***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Can't shoot 40% from the free throw line until the last minute. That was the difference in the game....

You'd think they'd shoot better from 3 at home, too.

How the Fever got to 74 Points:

....7-23 (30%) from 3
21-39 (54%) from 2
.........................................
28-62 (45%) Overall

11-20 (55%) FTs

True, BUT shooting 40% until the last few minutes of the game where they hit 4 in a row, (they were 7 for 16 up until then) is a much bigger outlier and issue then 30% from three. That happens....

Is Collier a rookie? Look over Cc's numbers and tell me she hasn't had a better season then Sabrina, other then The Liberty are a top team, and Sabrina has better players around her....
I get it, but I just don’t like the inconsistency….if they’re putting Ionescu ahead of Clark because the team is better, then they should put Collier ahead of Wilson. I’m not disagreeing with you, just the hypocrisy of the talking heads.

It was legit. That was a massive hissy fit because she was still mad about the FTs.

And Plum was called for a foul later and she acted the exact same way Clark did and no T was called. So I’m questioning how legit it was.

I'd agree that Collier should be in the conversation, but they've been pumping Wilson all year, (two time defending MVP and all). That and Wilson is a hell of a defender as well, and also the back to back defensive player I believe. It also helps that she and her team seem to get a VERY favorable whistle as well, unless thats just in games against Indiana..

Thats the thing. Most of these gals do the same crap, but the spotlight is always on Clark. Still I hope thats the last time for awhile she smacks the basket support. Twice with 2 T's called should be enough for her to get that they're going to ring her up for that.

Problem is they’re a two time defending champion and having a worse year with Wilson having the season she’s having. They were also 6-6 when Gray was out, so Wilson didn’t exactly carry them to greatness. If it’s a great individual season they’re looking at (for Wilson) then Clark should be ahead of everyone except Wilson and maybe Collier.

Doesn’t matter now…she wouldn’t get suspended for a playoff game.

Thanks to Clark, the atrocious play, and worse officiating I can go right back to not giving a rip about the WNBA.

It was fun while it lasted Doug.
I can't believe that the powers that be have not shut down these attacks on Clark on the floor. She's the cash cow for the whole league.
She's going to get everyone paid unless they let the thug play continue.
How fing stupid are these people?.

YOUR Fever (19-19) fall at home to Las Vegas (24-13), 78-74.

A slow start (13 point first quarter), 45% overall shooting, 15 turnovers and 9 missed FTs (11-20) were all part of the ugly loss.

CC's stats:

Played 34 of the 40 minutes

2-8 (25%) from three
5-10 (50%) from 2 pt range
............................................
7-18 (39%) Overall Shooting

2-4 (50%) FTs

18 Points
10 Assists
8 Rebounds (1 offensive)
1 Steal

0 Blocks

Looks like the W took away one of her assists, only listed with 9 now.

Adding insult to the injury (that this Fever team is going to be swept) is the reality that Thomas is going to overtake Caitlin, break her own record, and lead the league in assists as well.

Nah, its in the bag now assuming that CC doesn't implode. Getting her 7th technical and missing her last game of the season would make it closer, but even that probably wouldn't be enough for AT to catch CC. CC has a 39 assist lead going into the Sun game tonight. Thomas is on pace for 10 assists in this game, which would put her 29 behind CC, with three games for AT to go and two games for CC.

They crowned A’ja MVP before the season ever started. Mrs. spider (no pic) and I have continued to comment that it’s the weirdest thing ever. No other sports league decides its MVP before any games have even been played. It would be as if last Thursday before the Chiefs-Ravens all the talking heads said “yeah, I know Jackson won it last year, but Mahomes just had an off year. I don’t think there’s any doubt Patrick’s gonna be MVP this year.”

I’m as big a Caitlin fan as anyone. I don’t mind the mistakes because her great plays outweigh the mistakes by a long shot.

But. . . She knows one more technical and she probably costs her team a game. That would inexcusable, and completely on her, regardless of how poor the officiating may be. She is on the cusp. She must be on her best behavior at all times. Anything less would be a selfish, immature response.

Did no one else notice Caitlin was shooting the ball with considerable more arch tonight? Unless I'm blind I think this is a good thing. She took a shot from the elbow last game that may have well been shot putted for its lack of trajectory.

I'm guessing the last one got taken away.
CC passed to Fagbenle, who fumbled the ball temporarily, then dribbled and then took the shot.

If she shoots immediately after the pass...it's an assist.

Too butt hurt to let it go.
Weak.

That was the first time I addressed the topic and did so in an obviously neutral way.

The only other mentions I made to it were in two replies to a poster who replied to me. In my second post to him I picked up on what he said of both sides being guilty of pettiness. I concluded by saying I would post no more about the topic and didn't.

But subsequently you and MS have responded to my original post. For once it might be wise to take your own advice and let it go.

Some on this board have suggested that Sides sit Caitlin for the last game with the Fever’s seeding locked in now in order to rest her for the playoff. Would she do that? Maybe. Will she dial her minutes back now that wins don’t gain any advantage?

If Caitlin plays close to regular minutes the last two games and averages her 8 assists per game, yeah, it’s pretty much out of reach. But what if she only records say 8 more assists due to fewer minutes or other unseen factors? That puts her at 328, 36 ahead of AT after tonight.

That would mean AT would need to average 12 per game to catch Caitlin. Would the Sun try to do that? Well, AT recorded 11 assists tonight while leading all players in minutes (33) in a 20-point blowout win. She attempted 6 shots. Up until the fourth she had only attempted 4. Gee, I wonder why all the minutes and why so few shot attempts? Why still playing in the fourth while up so big?

All I’m saying is that I’m not counting this chicken until it’s hatched.

To me she seems much less aggressive offensively since the first two times Indiana saw them (I dunno, maybe she's going off more in other games?) But that thing with her two torn labrums has gotta be increasingly limiting her shots I would think.

How odd and unfortunate a deal where she won't allow herself an off season to repair.

I get it. You also have to remember that when the season started the first game was against the Sun. Someone commented that Clark would lead the league in assists, (hmmm), and Thomas bristled, saying "hey don't forget who led the league, and set the all time record last year". She went out and showed the rookie a few things in the first game. I'm sure she's aware and would really like to take that record. Still a remarkable year by both players.

How in the world did Kelsey Mitchell only get two shots (three if you count a fouled attempt) and only one point in the entire second half?
I was asking myself a lot in the second half why isn’t Mitchell on the floor. I about lost my mind at the end when neither clark nor her took the 3, but it was drawn up for Boston, or at least drawn up to not scheme Clark/mitchell/hull open. Lots of blame to go around for the loss but coaching should not be a reason.

Watched the game after HS football. It was interesting that the official that made the foul call waited to signal the call while watching CC’s reaction so she could T her up. I didn’t see that from other fouls as typically the official that makes the call turns and signals the foul call while the other two watch the response. CC has to be aware.

Just finished watching. CC cost them the game by wanting to be the hero when they tied it at 60 and again when they got within 1 at the end. Terrible, out of system, selfish shots.
So Clark misses a shot and she’s the reason they lost, but not the person who missed the wide open shot that would have likely won them the game…got it.

Too bad she has a coach that's too effing clueless to stick up for her star players who get completely hosed every single game.
