***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Could the Fever take a team trip to Australia this coming winter/summer and maybe just somehow “lose” Smith and Wallace? I hear that kind of thing happens a lot more than is widely reported. Worth a shot at least.

Wrong. Go look at the stats again. 33 percent sophomore. 39 as a junior, 38 as senior.
You’re right, I was looking at the years in reverse…but she still only shot 40% one year so was her shot broken the other three years? And she was doing that with teammates that actually passed to her and set her up.

And somehow it was the Sun who were at the FT line all night.

The Fever shot better from three (27% to 26%) and they shot better from 2 (54% to 47%).

The Fever even got up more shot attempts (76 to 72) and overall the Fever shot better (43% to 42%).

The Fever win the game by 9 points when you look strictly at field goals made.

But the difference in the game, of course, was at the FT line. The Sun shot 23 FTs; the Fever only shot 9.

+9 Points
(8 made threes for Indy; 5 for CT)
+0 Points (25 made two-point shots for Indy; 25 for CT)
-15 Points (Fever 7-9 in FTs; Sun 22-23)
...............................................................
-6 Points (87-81, Fever lose)
=======================

FG Shooting comparison:

.................................Fever............................................Sun................
From 3:.......8-30.....27%........5-19....26%
From 2:
....25-46......54%....25-53....47%
Overall:....33-76......43%....30-72....42%

The Fever lost by 6 points. The Sun shot 23 free throws; the Fever only shot 9.

Caitlin should have gotten 5 Free Throws on these 2 blown no calls.

Watch all 3 videos:

(1) Should have gotten 3 free throws here:

(2) Should have gotten 2 free throws here:

Doesn’t matter. She’s not a starter. They need an impact 4.
Honestly, if Smith would have set 2-3 bone crushing screens a game, she would have been worth playing. The Edward’s type screens where defender is put on their but, but you accept the foul because defenders hanging on CC & KM hear footsteps. None of these cheap moving screens, I’m talking blindside block decleating. If refs are letting defenders abuse your guards, punish them and protect your players.

Wnba goes public and calls Fever/Iowa fans racist.

Meanwhile the refs stop the game last night to remove a Suns fan that was calling CC and her mom c_nts.

If you don't want white straight women in the league don't draft them.

I could be done with this league real easy.

Work on your golf game this winter. Get good, real good.

I don't disagree that Clark CAN improve on defense, but I still believe that she has the same type of issues that Luka had. The fact that she can create offense at such a high level, (she's almost peerless even in the W) I think has people overlooking her issues as an athlete. She just doesn't have the kind of quickness or lateral movement that many of the leagues guards have. Luka improved his somewhat by losing 35lbs when he went pro to gain a bit of quickness and mobility. Clark probably needs to add another 10lbs of muscle. (Which I'm sure she will). I think eventually CC can play decent defense in a team concept, IF the team gets the players, coaching and attitude to do it.
I see no similarity to Garza. A better comparison would be to Steve Nash, who also was not a great one-on-one defender. Like Nash, CC was a soccer star - as a HS freshman she was 1st team all-state; 26 goals in 6 games. She has no issues as an athlete.

100% agree on this. The ball stopper thing is also getting old. She's a 2 guard, not a point guard. Her job is to score, not necessarily get 8 assists a game. That's what CC is for. Every once in awhile they can still run the offense through her but she's not a great passer. So what?
The ball stopper thing may be getting old but it’s also a fact.

Everyone bags on Smith and I understand.
However, last year, 2023, she was top 20 scorer and top 10 rebounder. The talent is there that GS will either take her or Wheeler depending on other choices.
She has way more talent than bottom half the roster, just not a high bb IQ and wants volume touches which does not fit Fever
She's toxic. Team killer. Agree she has talent but it will never be realized.

Weatherspoon getting fired - who can they hire to put up with these crazies?

Cathy Engelbert was appointed as WNBA Commissioner in 2019 by Adam Silver. Should Silver replace her? Between the horrid officiating, so-called "physicality" of the League which may ultimately result in great harm, lack of public denouncement and accountability of conspicuous targeting on the court, and an overall separation from events relative to the game in general, I would say yes. The only statement she has put out pertains to denouncing hate, threats, and racism by the fans. We all get that, concerning the hate and so on, but she hasn't realized or addressed the issues that are leading up to some of the disdain and disbelief of the organization. She has a stellar record in the business field. Why can't she provide effective leadership for the league?

Nothing personal against Nalyssa, but I'm shocked how many people think the Fever did her dirty with playing time. I dreaded her getting the ball every time. The most frustrating thing is how many times CC passed to her with wide path to layup and she was so slow that the defense would get there to stop her.

I have a question about rosters. Can you not just fire a player? Or would they still be counted as a member of the team. Get rid of the dead weight.
