So, trying to understand…my feeling is these girls have soldiered away in anonymity for literally decades then some college superstar shows up and shines the light on them. We look at it and say they should be thankful.
But in reality, it would be hard not to be a little jealous, so I really am trying to show empathy for them.
Their goal was to make her an ineffective, they wanted to show that there are a lot of basketball players in the WNBA just as good and better than she is.
But in reality, she’s just too talented & too versatile. Yes her shot is very off right now, but even in that she is demonstratively impacting the game.
They’re jealousy and I prefer to call it that than racism… Yes, both things could be true but it ultimately comes down to jealousy. We have an affinity to “name things “in our society. What just happened has to be “called something “but in reality it comes down to pride and jealousy.
With that said, the WNBA has to do something. Because right now what the world is seeing is a lot of dumb ass pettiness..
Now I have to add, what we are seeing right now is absolutely unprecedented. I’ve Said it before, but Im 53 years old & 40+ being a sports fanatic. I have never seen a rookie come into any league and fade as much animosity and as much physicality as she is facing. Yet she is succeeding at a very high level.
It really is a bizarre soap opera unfolding in real time!
