The Las Vegas Aces first pick in the 2017 draft was Kelsey Plummer (one of the best players in the league). Guess what happened her first year…they sucked and got the first pick again. Then with that pick they took Aja Wilson (who many say is the best player in the league). Guess what happened her first year….they sucked again and once again got the first pick in the draft. With that pick they took Jackie Young and they finally had a good season. So obviously one great player (or even two) can’t make a bad team good, so anyone that downplays Caitlin’s success this year due to not winning doesn’t understand that.Excellent, thoughtful and level-headed post.
I'm not sure that cleaning up the physicality on CC falls on the league though. Fouls and flagrant fouls are part of the game. Defenders are alotted so many per game, and at certain times it is smart to use them. If Iowa had anything closer to that mentality they may have won a natty. Ultimately it falls on CC and her teammates to enforce and protect themselves by fighting back.
I also have to take exception to saying that, "CC is succeeding at a very high level." I get that her stats are good and certainly impressive. And yeah, yeah, I get that her team isn't any good. But their record is very poor. So I just don't agree that CC is "succeeding at a very high level." Don't get me wrong, at the same time, I feel what CC has done so far has been impressive. But the objective is to win games
After the Seattle game I read that some people in attendance said what precipitated the Vivians/Clark verbal exchange and bump was a punch or forearm delivered to Clark's chest.
Today I read that a fan captured it and posted it on X. Anyone seen it? I would love to see it. If it actually exists the Fever need to send that also to the W's office. Get to sleuthing @Franisdaman !
Yeah, those hard fouls are part of the game. But headhunting isn't and that little bitch Carter will get hers. So will thug Reese.Excellent, thoughtful and level-headed post.

So there was a different feed on the local Fox channel or something?
Here you go. From this angle you can see it better. After the Seattle game I read that some people in attendance said what precipitated the Vivians/Clark verbal exchange and bump was a punch or forearm delivered to Clark's chest.

Once again, Boston trying to cool off CC22 instead of knocking that bitch out. I see a trend with the Fever. Here you go. From this angle you can see it better.
It’s on the off topic boardThere is a video from behind the basket that shows the jab to the chest/neck area a little better. I'm looking for it.
Almost all of them are going to get a 3-week break in July. That should help.I get the feeling that many of these WNBA rookies are gonna "hit a wall" at some point, especially guards, with virtually no off season.
There would be a lot less double-teaming if Wallace could hit a 3-pointer and Boston could hit the pick and pop shot. She got herself trapped a couple times but overall she beat the double teams much better today
It’s on the off topic board
Clark is succeeding in spite of her team. The team isn't losing because of her. But her team most definitely is not succeeding.Excellent, thoughtful and level-headed post.

Her team lacks talent. Opposing teams can double team and focus on CC.Clark is succeeding in spite of her team. The team isn't losing because of her. But her team most definitely is not succeeding.
Angel Reese is just a dumb bitch…period.Getting ready to watch the 3rd qtr. That Carter foul on CC was ruled a Flagrant 1 if I heard correctly. There must have been some trash talk going on, because I didn't see a lot of contact before that. The one thing I did take note of was Angel Reese hugging Carter after that play at the bench.
Does law enforcement do anything about it?In the Bay Area where I live it's black on Asian crime. They beat up and mug elderly Asian people for fun. It's abhorrent.
I agree, but that has little to do with the price of tea in China. Clark may very well think thats if they're not winning then "she" is not "succeeding", BUT no player can win games by themselves. It took Pippen and some others for MJ to take "Da Bulls" to another level. Will see what a few days rest and some practice do to help CC and her teammates get on the same page.....I don't think CC would agree that she is "succeeding at a very high level."
And I'd bet her main reasoning for this would be the team's record
This. The commish was the CEO of a major company, and you'd think she'd be getting a grip on this, but to this point her silence is deafening. Time for her to step up, and lead from the front....I get the impression none of these women know how to act/be with eyes and attention. They don't understand the repercussions of their actions and how they are magnified in this moment.
What is worse, the WNBA itself doesn't understand. Reputation of the league and it's future is at a pivotal moment. Inaction tells me they are satisfied with the bottom shelf. Clean it up, prove entertainment and watchability, or that future television contract is just a pipe dream.
No comment, Carter? You just did that with way more people watching than you know. Good luck with that.
This whole episode is super disappointing. I previously thought of the W as rainbow central, celebrating everyone. Is it really plagued by racism?
I understand plenty, including that Kelsey Plummer's name is actually Kelsey Plum. The Las Vegas Aces first pick in the 2017 draft was Kelsey Plummer (one of the best players in the league). Guess what happened her first year…they sucked and got the first pick again. Then with that pick they took Aja Wilson (who many say is the best player in the league). She is personally succeeding at a very high level. It is obvious both in the stats and watching the games.I understand plenty, including that Kelsey Plummer's name is actually Kelsey Plum.
I haven't downplayed CC's success. I've stated that what she is doing is impressive. At the same time, I don't believe it's accurate to say she is "succeeding at a very high level."
This would involve winning. And again, I would bet money that CC agrees with me
Yelling "Yo Bitch" and body checking her is the cherry on top of the bullshit she has had to put up with. The league needs to come down like a ton of bricks. Start fining and suspending players and tell the refs to clean up the games and get rid of the street ball. They are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
Didn't blame CC at all for the Fever's record.Yeah, those hard fouls are part of the game. But headhunting isn't and that little bitch Carter will get hers. So will thug Reese.
Yeah, you take exception to CC22 not succeeding. Your wrong, just like you are wrong on everything. She is the best player on a shit team and to blame her for the worst record in the W. You suck.
Clark is doing quite well. But that isn't the same as "succeeding at a very high level," when it comes to team sports.Clark is succeeding in spite of her team. The team isn't losing because of her. But her team most definitely is not succeeding.
Pretty sure I was the first one on this board to say, "give the Fever some time to get on the same page," after everyone was losing their shit after game one.I agree, but that has little to do with the price of tea in China. Clark may very well think thats if they're not winning then "she" is not "succeeding", BUT no player can win games by themselves. It took Pippen and some others for MJ to take "Da Bulls" to another level. Will see what a few days rest and some practice do to help CC and her teammates get on the same page.....
The only personal success in a team game is a WShe is personally succeeding at a very high level. It is obvious both in the stats and watching the games.
Does law enforcement do anything about it?
There is team success and there is individual success. They are not the same thing and they don't have the same metrics.Clark is doing quite well. But that isn't the same as "succeeding at a very high level," when it comes to team sports.
Of course the Fever aren't losing because of her
So there was a different feed on the local Fox channel or something?
But Bingo, there it is. Good find, thanks.
Sure Hammons and Duncan, et al. There's no hate going on here. Chuck and LeBron were right, of course.
Linked to 3 above, the refs are worse than the college refs. Just horribly inconsistent, and it sure seems like they are consciously or subconsciously hazing Clark. Defense like that allowed in WVU game during March Madness is the norm, while she seems to get called for tickytack fouls.
Just an FYI…WNBA refs are shatty refs.
FIFY
Since we are to the point of parsing words...Pretty sure I was the first one on this board to say, "give the Fever some time to get on the same page," after everyone was losing their shit after game one.
What has little to do with the price of tea in China are individual stats compared to winning percentage in a team game.
Y'all are a tad sensitive on this one. I've said that Clark has been pretty impressive. All I did was take exception to the specific wording that CC is "succeeding at a very high level."
We are in a time where team sports is far too individualized. All I'm doing is sticking up for the team perspective.
We are in agreement that we don't believe CC would call this "succeeding at a very high level." And that her reasoning would be lack of team success. Nothing else needs to be said
If I’m the commissioner I’m calling Carter and their coach to my office and dressing them down and suspending Carter, and then the coach if she doesn’t own and agree to publicly condemn what Carter did. I am then calling those refs to my office and make them rationally explain how that was not upgraded to a flagrant foul, or they are dismissed from the league. That would end this shit.I’m just waiting for the other team to pull a gun on Clark one of these games and for the refs to say, “incidental contact, play on.”
Sides’s comment about continuing to send video clips into the league office doesn’t go far enough. She needs to say, we’ve been sending videos into the league to try to get them to clean things up but if they don’t do that soon we’re going to take care of the matters ourselves.
If the WNBA wants to be legitimate, they will either put a stop to the BS with explicit instructions to the refs, owners, and coaches about what is and isn’t acceptable with fines and suspensions forthcoming for violations. Or we’ll end up with the 70s-90s NBA where players punch it out on the court.
For these women on $64k annual contracts like Carter, a $5k fine is going to be pretty noticeable to them considering it would be after taxes.
But that only feels good in the moment and doesn’t make the W less unwatchable for the causal fan. What Indiana needs to do is bench one of their worthless starters and bring in a bonafide enforcer, like a female version of Charles Oakley or Anthony Mason. It is clear Boston isn't going to do it.
