*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

Is it really that hard to bring up Colin Rea and Danny Hultzen and put them in the bullpen? They can’t be any worse than the bums they keep sending out to the mound.

This Yastrzemski "kid" (I guess he is 28?) for SF is a good story. His grandfather was a helluva player for Boston in the 60's and 70's, including winning the Triple Crown in 1967 IIRC in leading the BoSox to the WS. In fact, I believe the owner of the team at that time (Yawkey?) thought he was a better player than Ted Williams. That's saying a lot.

I didn't realize he is as old as he is until I checked his bio. He's hit 17 HRs in basically half a season since his call up, including, I believe 3 in one game recently. Hopefully the Cubs can hold him in check tomorrow.

EDIT: Hell, he hits 29 on Friday. He's not a kid! :D

Thanks, Lute!

Very true. This shouldn’t have been a close game as it was.

The offense bailed out Darvish, Holland, and Chatwood.

That was a very unusual game for Darvish. Usually when he gets hit hard it's because he's not locating his pitches. As Len & Jim talked about, if you'd have just said that he had 8 Ks with no walks, you'd assume he probably went 6-7 innings and gave up maybe 2 runs. Seems he just fell too in love with his off speed and the 3rd time through the order, the Giants were sitting on it.

Thanks, Lute!

It is a good story though. Never heard of him until this year. And man, does he look like Gramps facially.

Some players are late bloomers. Tommy Pham has a similar story (if not a bit more amazing given his myriad of health issues along the way). They're the kind of stories you just don't see often in other team sports.

Here's Gramps and Happy Birthday!

Here's the comparison ... pretty cool.

When he made that error he came apart at the seams.

Castellanos has been awesome! I remember being pissed off at the trade deadline when there was no deal. About 10 minutes later the trade went through....thank God.

That Rowan Wick trade for Jason Vosler is looking really good, hope he keeps it up down the stretch!
