*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

John Lester now has 10 wins and 9 losses. He has
an ERA of 4.49. Lester is no longer the #1 starter
for the Cubs. Father time has caught up with him.
Yu Darvish is beginning to look like the ace that the
Cubs really need.

The Nationals have been scoring a ton of runs over the past week. This series just might be a case of bad timing. Hopefully the bats come back to life tomorrow. Too many low hit games lately. Lucky to win yesterday with just 2 hits. Grouped them together though I guess.

Lute - I like you, but good gravy. Yu Darvish and "ace" in the same sentence?

Darvish may be the ace they need, but Hendricks is the ace they got.

And quite frankly, I'd still bet most teams still in the hunt would have no qualms about Quintana, Lester and Hamels in their rotation too. Three quality lefties can be mighty valuable to have come playoff time, depending on the opponent.

When I think of playoff starters regarding the Cubs' 5 guys, Darvish is probably last on that list.

The Washington Nationals are the second best team/roster in the NL. They had a perfect storm of awful defense/baserunning/injuries in April/May, but have since gotten back on course.

Might not be enough to catch ATL, but the Nats are better than any of the teams in the NL Central.

As a Braves fan, I say screw the Cubs. I wanted you rat f’ers to help the Braves pad their lead in the East this weekend and they are crapping the bed.

This would be a closer game if Happ's 3rd strike was called correctly.

Generational superstar hitter Kyle Schwarber is sure money in high leverage spots. I am grateful he went 7-16 in the World Series, but the production will never reach the Theo Epstein hype. Theo's ego will not allow him to admit he overestimated his ability.

This ump has a problem calling balls and strikes with lefties at bat.

Safe at third FWIW...

If KB just keeps the glove on the bag, Parra had no chance.

This home plate ump SUCKS. And since Charlotte is a suburb of DC, apparently, I'm in blackout zone and my only option on TV is the Nats awful crew. Ever since Happ got tossed, the color guy keeps highlighting every call against the Cubs saying they angered HP ump Carpazzi.

It's a stupid hot take....because if it were true, he'd have to be fired today.

True. In the old days ( B4 replay ) if the ball beat the runner to the bag, likely out. Not anymore, especially sliding past the bag or briefly coming off with the tag applied. HP ump has been shaky all day for sure...

This team stinks on ice against any team that has a pulse. JFC do something.
There’s nothing left to do. We have been grasping at straws since 2017 and come up almost empty. It’s over.
This is not a complete baseball team and there is no quick fix.

I fell asleep after the 7th inning stretch, and just woke up to the replay of the game. So.... Waste of my time to watch the rest of it?
I had a weird dream at some point in my nap about getting a foot long hot dog and some chocolate chip and oatmeal cookie dough at the grocery store in the small town in Indiana my wife was born in. What does that mean?
And, never mind the replay. The Blues Brothers is on HBO.

I listened to the game while doing yard work.

They sucked ... again.

Terrible effort; don’t seem to give a fvck about the outcome. Just resting on their World Series laurels.

The homer Nats color guy continued to comment throughout the rest of the game about HW the Nats were getting every break in the strike zone....not that it likely would have mattered.
