Really. It’s either much worse, or Theo is getting super desperate. They do have a history of carrying three catcher, though, so this might not signal another move is in the works to move Caratini if Contreras is healthy in 7-8 days.

I don't see how it's worth giving up Montgomery for Maldanado. Play Caratini and run Taylor Davis out there every fifth day.

Blame Maddon for continuing to run Monty out there against lefties. He destroyed his value and probably his worth to the team.
He's a long reliever/spot starter, he has to be able to face guys from both sides of the plate.
From what I read, he wants to become a full time starter, thus the request to be traded.

I swear. Why do I watch? I tuned in during the first inning, 2 outs 2-2 count I believe, and the first pitch I witness...HR. Then 2 straight hit batters and then an RBI single, and then another. 3-0.
Does anyone else experience that when you watch, the worst things happen?
As a precursor, I was watching the Bartman game and decided to record the last couple of innings on my VCR for posterity's sake, and, we all know what happened then.

The Cubs did a great job of keeping that a secret, then. As I said, he gave us some good times, but if he was being a jag in trying to push a trade, good riddance. Now he gets to be on a crappy team versus going to the playoffs (Most likely), again.

I'm normally a fan of Maddon using analytics with making his lineup but today has me shaking my head. Schwarber has homered in 3 straight games and Garcia has been hitting the piss out of the ball. But they are off for Russell and Almora?
I’m ok with Garcia but agree 100% with Schwarber. They’ve been trying all season to get him hot — he’s finally hot — and Maddon immediately sits him. Dumb!
