*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

I mentioned before that I was thinking of taking my family to Wrigley tomorrow on or way to our vacation destination. Trying to get them cheap. Is it ok to scalp tickets there? Just didn't know if there were a bunch of scammers. May wait until the game starts. Thanks for any info.

Be very, very careful scalping tickets. At the last minute the vendors will have the same tickets for dirt cheap, and the chances it's an actual ticket increase astronomically. Also, there is a minor chance you wind up wearing handcuffs if you try and buy a ticket on the street.

Really? Didn't know that was illegal. So go to a vendor. Sorry I know you mentioned that before. Not the ticket office right? The are places that sell them around there?

This information is not worth much, if anything.

I sold tickets to a game once - a bus trip that didn't materialize. The cops didn't seem to mind as long as I was selling them for face value or below(I was), and not on the grounds of Wrigley (I was until I was told to move).

"scalping" is only illegal if sold for more than face value. If it is sold out, I'd check the gates pre-game first as there could be returned tickets that are for sale. Or, you can likely find stubhub tickets for face value and they guarantee their tickets.

You can buy tickets legally outside from the licensed brokers. There are several shops around the stadium. Buy from anyone else at your own risk.

I have had good luck with the vendors. Just have cash and be prepared to negotiate. I have gotten lots of seats in prime spots for half of face or better. Now, you are going on a Cardinals date, right? You might not have much leverage, there. Yes, to the scalping only at face value or lower. However, I have had friends get sold fake tickets, or buy a group of tickets in a rubber band and the top one is the only one for that day, the other three are for a previous game.

Going tomorrow. Padres are in town. I'll see what the vendors have. Might wait until after the first inning and get them on stub hub. Some day I'll buck up and get some good tickets and take the kids. Last year wife and I sat front row, first two seats next to dugout/ media well on the third base side. Was freaking awesome. Got a KB foul ball

Stubhub tickets disappear once a game starts.

Really? I was checking the other night and they were there until mid game. Could get then for like $10

As mentioned, Stub Hub will crater as game time approaches, then disappear. The Padres aren't a huge draw, and there is a decent chance some people bail given the projected high temperatures. 97 degrees tomorrow, that might drive out some of the corporate types that own the seats low down in the bowl. However, 97 might also make you want to consider something in the shade.

Could be a good day to get Cubs-Padres tickets. After reading the latest in this thread a couple hours ago, I see now that I have a SeatGeek alert on my phone that prices for today's game have dropped 17%. From what, to what, I'm not entirely sure, but the prices are coming down.

I have cubs season tickets and they remain in stub hub for at least an inning after it starts. Can’t remember exactly how long though. You can almost always find good tickets below face value on stub hub, even for good games like cubs cardinals and cubs/Sox. I had a pair of Cubs/Sox tickets not even sell and we had them below face.

Lester has given up 11 hits in 5 IP? That kind of hurts your WHIP. Hope the bullpen is ready today.

Partially correct. His overall contract was not front-loaded (I mis-spoke), but his signing bonus was. It's not a flat $5M per year. He got $6.67M annually for his first three years and starting this year, it's $2.5M annually for the rest of the deal. (per Spotrac) Overall, that brings down what he costs against the cap, but he is still an expensive player.

The primary reason I care less about his deal now is that A) the worst of it is over and B) there aren't so many years left that he's unmoveable. A couple years ago, there was absolutely no way to move his deal. Now he's productive enough and there's a small enough chunk of money left that the Cubs could flip him for another bad contract that's easier to dump or eat a chunk of his money and send him away if that's what they want. There's $96M left total on his deal after this season.

That link makes no sense if you are looking at the signing bonus column. It even mentions he got a total of $20 million in signing bonus and that payout is deferred and paid out in 2024 thru 2027, hence the yearly cash figure not including any of the signing bonus thru 2023.

Got 6 tickets at game time for 25 each. Section 203 which I thought were decent seats. More importantly they were in the shade. I had looked earlier in the week and they were asking around $80 for them. Kids loved it. Some day I'll bring them back and get some good seats.

I know you guys don't give a shit, but I'm starting to believe the Cubs will run away with the Central in the next month or so.

Find another guy to be a 3/4 starter(Stroman) and pick up another bullpen arm and the hitting might be good enough.

EX-Cub Jorge Soler is having a great year for the
KC Royals. He has 26 home runs and 69 RBIs.

Cubs did not need him because of his defense.
It is good to see that he made it in MLB..

Agree. I'm happy for him and have no issue with the trade to KC.

It was great they got to see a win. How were the boobies today. Wrigley has the best boobie action on hot days. If you are into that kind of thing.

The Cubs could trade Schwarber, Russell, and a prospect for Merrifield...Dayton Moore is dumb enough to do that

Just a summary of Russell's last 15 minutes:

A) Almost gets picked off of 2nd on a passed ball that he failed to advance to 3rd on.
B) Gets picked off of 2nd on the next pitch when he failed to get back to 2nd in time after a fly ball.
C) Drops a fly ball at 2nd that he probably should have let Bryant in right catch. The next batter, Machado, then hits him in with a home run to put the Padres up 3-2.

I just don't understand why they keep this guy. Nobody is going to give anything up for him.
