*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

Castro has been mentioned as a player the Cubs May acquire for the stretch run.
I wondered about him myself, but I just looked up his stats and he's slashing .246/.272/.353. Not exactly the remedy they need unless a change of scenery would get him motivated again.

I haven’t read the scuttlebutt on Russell, but I kind of wonder if an even up swap for someone like Castro would be a net gain. If Russell is lacking focus maybe it’s affecting him as a teammate in intangible ways as well.

Castro could come in knowing what it means to be a Cub playing for a playoff run, and could help rejuvenate himself a bit.

How’s Ian Happ doing lately?

If Russell was traded to Miami he would be in jail within 30 days.

So, Rizzo's HBP there. Slow-mo, the ball passes under the bottom hand on the bat. Rizzo sells the HBP after by shaking his top hand.

Maybe, but I don't think the ump calls it without a noise. He had to hear something that sounded like a ball hitting flesh. I am not saying Rizzo would never do it, but it's pretty tough to sell it to a MLB umpire.

Contreras has been activated and will start today.
Russell has been optioned to Iowa. I think that is the last we will see of him as a Cub.
Addison just may disappear into Cubs history as the team's all time RBI leader for a single World Series with 9 in 2016.

That could become a major piece of trivia.

I'm kinda amazed that the Cubs didn't do with Russell what the Chiefs did with Kareem Hunt?

Was it only because there was video of Hunt's transgressions? It's one thing to look the other way when the individual is one of the high profile stars on a team. But Addison Russell has never been more than a POTENTIAL star.

The Yankees and Aroldis Chapman say hello
