I can’t imagine Russell being on the roster next year. Theo seems bound and determined to hang onto him. Next year I don’t see how even he can justify the $ wasted on him.

It’s tough to give up on a 1st rounder but he looks totally lost.

Honestly. It was an amazing play to just have caught it and avoid the error. And then the fcker tagged him!! Jaw dropping play.

Sandberg will forever be my favorite player because he was my childhood idol. I have loved other Cubs over the years....but I've never had as much fun watching any individual player as I do watching El Mago.

I understand a funk at the plate. Every hitter suffers through that. Russell seems to have forgotten how to run the bases, and how to field. Those things shouldn’t leave you. He appears to lack focus.

There were also a couple of times that all the infielders gathered at the mound, and Russell was still at his position without joining them. Once he joined them late and another time he started to go to the mound, but they were already done. He was completely checked out yesterday.

I’m pumped now!

Just scored some great seats for Cubs v Brewers at Wrigley Friday 8/2.

I’ll be taking my boys to their first Cubbie game :D
Pure awesome. My first game at Wrigley with my dad was a chilly Spring Day that featured Fergie Jenkins facing JR Richard. Fergie got beat up bad.

The Cubs seriously trolled Bears fans during the stretch by having Robbie Gould as the guest conductor.

What the hell is Edwards’ problem??!!

I realize the Cubs scored only one stinking run, but as soon as Edwards came in I knew the Padres were going to blow it open.

Were the fans booing him?

I certainly hope I heard that right on the tv.

I gave carl the benefit for a long time, but I just don't know what the hell happened to him. Location sucks, movement has disappeared and now I see a fast ball sitting around 92? What the hell :(

At least the hitters gave us a fighting chance today ;)

If Rizzo's ground ball had gotten past Hosmer in the 1st, it could have been the start of something big(ger).

Rizzo batted .500 on this home stand including a GS. Nice to see him hitting again.

Relievers I believe have a short shelf life from over-use. I don't believe the human body is made to pitch hard 100 total times per year.

7-2 is a good homestand. Now, they need to find a way to go 5-4 on the upcoming road trip. The Cubs have not had a good road trip in a long time, so this one is very important.

Can we PLEASE see less Albert Almora? The only players in MLB with a worse wRC+ than him in the last calendar year (minimum 400 PA's) are Chris Davis and Billy Hamilton. His glove is decent, but a lot of his circus catches would be routine for CF's with normal speed (Almora is slower than a turtle). I wonder if Theo is bound and determined to see his first Cubs draft pick be deemed a win.

Either someone in the Tigers front office really wants to push a trade involving Nicholas Castellanos, or a lot of people are being lazy and citing each others rumors as proof of a potential trade.
It's going to be an an interesting run up to the trade deadline. Will Theo be bold?

Why on earth did Joe leave him in there after he walked the first batter to load the bases? I suppose Joe being Joe just wanted to build his confidence, but you just knew that was a bases-loaded walk (or HBP) waiting to happen. Being a players' manager has run its course.

What is the appeal of Castellanos? Is he that much of an upgrade over Schwarber?

This hole at second base is bad. There has to be an average 2B/leadoff guy somewhere out there. Russell/Bote/Descalso just make me want to puke.

Give Happ another shot.
