*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

Should of just cut him straight up

Really? What's the downside of letting him try to work things out in AAA? If there's any life left in that arm from a guy who once looked like a potential closer, I'd rather the Cubs have him work in AAA vs. letting the Cardinals or someone pick him up for the league minimum and use him against the Cubs.

He needs a sports psychologist.

You could see him yesterday that he has absolutely no confidence.

Agreed. He's looked lost for a while. He needs to go have some successful outings and just get used to getting guys out again. That whole change in his delivery was a huge mistake.

Yes he does. I think the players know it, too. At the game yesterday, as soon as the fans started booing him the players on the field were trying to get the fans to stop. Never seen that before. His body language yesterday was awful and he looks defeated.

That’d be great if someone picked him up and used him against the Cubs

Wick is an interesting prospect. He was drafted as a position player and is relatively new to pitching, and has a live arm. If not Wick, I was also hoping Norwood might have gotten a shot. It's pretty clear there is going to be a steady shuttle for a few weeks from AAA to the big leagues. Even if the Cubs add another solid MLB veteran, they will need arms or the stretch run.

Sounds more like John Wick.

I don't know how long until the league figures out Robel Garcia, but it is fun watching him have his moment in the sun.

With the emergence of Robel Garcia does that make the Cubs trade Nico Hoerner or Aramis Ademan. They all play the same positions.
I hope not, because Garcia may just be a flash in the pan. If the league figures him out, he could become the next Arismendy Alcantara.

I am glad that he is producing at the moment, though.

Strop is broken. He needs to go back to Iowa to "figure things out" as well. When was the last time he pitched well?

Would a Been nice to be watching a healthy Marrow in the 8th tonight... damn,

I like the idea of Detroit’s closer Shane Greene and Castenellos.

Looks like it’s time to add 8th inning reliever to the Cubs list of trade deadline needs...

1. 2B/leadoff hitter
2. CF/leadoff hitter
3. Left handed reliever
4. 8th inning reliever

Not sure how we’re going to pull this off with the dearth of resources in the farm system. It would be nice if Ian Happ and Brandon Morrow could effectively check a couple of those boxes off the list.

Is Marrow even going to pitch for the Cubs again?
Marrow is in AZ and has been getting ramped up. Theo said last week he is going to see how it goes after throwing about 80% capacity two or three times last week. Mound pitching supposed to start this week. Brandon is getting closer but I for one, am not expecting him to pitch this year. However, if he does and is effective, well its like the Cubs just found a $20 bill in their pocket.

They will have to keep moving him along to get ready for the September 1st deadline. But it’s probably wishful thinking at this point.

Thanks for the update.

Father Time is undefeated, and he may be getting Pedro Strop. He's 34 and down a few ticks on his fastball. Pedro's days as an elite setup man are likely over.

Why can't cishek pitch the 8th? A big time lefty is way more important.
Definitely need a leadoff hitter though!

The BCB is good stuff. I had just finished reading it when I saw it had been posted here. It's got a lot of information on pitch selection that I think is indicative of a few things.
Also, as mentioned in the article. balls are really flying out of the ballpark this season.
