*****Official Cubs 2019 thread*****

There must have been something else involved in that Castellanos trade. The Cubs have 2 nice catcher prospects in their system and the guy the
Tigers wanted isn’t one of them.

So, a few more guys are going to have neck strains and have to go to the IL until Theo figures things out?

I understand they couldn't get Pereda's first name spelled correctly on the trade agreement...tic

Kimbrel only cost money. Green would have cost at least one top five prospect due to his salary controlled status.
Kimbrel wouldn't be a problem if he was able to get guys out and close out the game, you know, his job.

Reds just sent Scooter to the Giants. WTF are the Reds doing?

Both! :)

It’s easy to play GM on HROT, but I’d have much rather given up catching depth than pitching depth. I don’t know if it’s announced, but they will add an elite Venezuelan from this year’s IFA class. They had an elite defender from Mexico who just made it to Arizona. The #3 prep catcher this year, plus Amaya behind young controlled guys like Caratini and Contreras.
Theo gave up three pitchers of varying MLB prospect status for rentals today.

Agreed.

why the hell are we giving up more pitching for ANOTHER guy who can't even get on base 1/3 of the time? WTF we need this dude for? We have enough guys that strike out too much and don't get on base enough!

He's a clear upgrade against lefties. Almora certainly isn't doing it and we will see with Happ. If he is worth 1 or 2 wins down the stretch in a tight race, isn't that worth it?

he crushes left handed pitchers and we are very weak in the outfield with RH bats.

I assume the OF vs LH pitchers will be something like Happ, Almora, Castellanos
and vs RH picthers something like Schwarber, Happ, Heyward
