Without checking, I'll assume the Cubs lost.Baffling series of moves by Ross in extra innings.
Care to explain that to us non-eggheads, genius?
It means that for all the frustration in these 1-run games, the Cubs (on the whole) are doing an above average job of hitting and getting guys on base with a runner on 3rd. If those splits hold up, it would point to the Cubs being a little bit unlucky so far this year and that over the course of the season, things should level out.Care to explain that to us non-eggheads, genius?
Are you talking about RISP? The Cubs splits suck in that regard, and I am NOT a genius. I’m gonna say no there. Tough loss today; but, well ahead of many projections already, including a lot of the experts on this board. I really like where they are; but, don’t think we will see much turnover all year. Still think 85-88 wins is possible with this groupYep, the Cubs lost. Is Ross on the hot seat yet? Lot's of baffling decisions on his part to go along with the 1 run losses.
No, the numbers in that tweet are explicitly ”runner on third with 1 out” and “runner on third with 2 outs”. Those are part of RISP, but not everything. Within wOBA, you can also get on base with a guy on third and not drive the runner in, but generally speaking, getting more guys on base is a positive, if not ultimate, outcome. Are you talking about RISP? It’s possible, but top 10 is HUGE and Ferris is 19, so we’ll see. Both have tremendous stuff.Cade Horton and Jackson Ferris will be top 10 minor league prospects in all of baseball next year at this time.
No, but putting Barnhart in for Amaya was stupid. He made weird pinch runner moves, too.Yep, the Cubs lost. Is Ross on the hot seat yet? Lot's of baffling decisions on his part to go along with the 1 run losses.
He didn’t put Barnhart in for Amaya directly. When Amaya got hit, he put Seiya in to run at 1B in the hopes that they could end the game. After that, Barnhart had to come into the game unless you wanted Madrigal catching. No, but putting Barnhart in for Amaya was stupid. He made weird pinch runner moves, too.
Never, ever correct me when I’m on a rant.He didn’t put Barnhart in for Amaya directly. When Amaya got hit, he put Seiya in to run at 1B in the hopes that they could end the game. After that, Barnhart had to come into the game unless you wanted Madrigal catching.
He did, except (IIRC), Seiya stayed in to play RF and Barnhart came in for Velazquez.Never, ever correct me when I’m on a rant.
So, he wasted Suzuki on that swap is what you are saying?
It was the correct call by rule, but it’s a poorly written rule. That balk call was BS.
I missed that swap because I was leaving the house and lost a few minutes of the game as I transitioned from TV to radio. I de recall yelling at the TV for Amaya to charge the mound. My wife asked why? She doesn’t understand baseball. He did, except (IIRC), Seiya stayed in to play RF and Barnhart came in for Velazquez.
I was following the best I could from my youngest’s flag football game, but it seemed like Amaya was pretty hot about getting hit.I missed that swap because I was leaving the house and lost a few minutes of the game as I transitioned from TV to radio. Morel is back, baby! I’m guessing Velazquez will be the corresponding move, but it could be Madrigal. Nelly isn’t playing and should go back and get ABs in Iowa. They should drop Hosmer, but it’s pretty clear they’re not there yet with him. Can’t see them dropping a reliever right after a 14-inning game (I would not be surprised if we find out later that a reliever is also coming up). There is an open 40-man spot, but they do have Hendricks and Heuer on rehab stints that will need 40-man spots soon and there aren’t many superfluous spots at this point.
I'm not sure, NV wasn't getting regular ABs, so who is Morel replacing given that Jed said he wanted only wanted Morel up if he's getting ABs.Morel is back, baby! My best guess is he’ll work in at 3B and also go the utility route, bouncing around giving guys days off. Now that Wisdom has come back down to earth, it’s time for him to go back to largely a platoon vs. lefties and righties with reverse splits.I'm not sure, NV wasn't getting regular ABs, so who is Morel replacing given that Jed said he wanted only wanted Morel up if he's getting ABs.
Matt Spiegel speculated an injury to a regular, like Morel. Interesting fact, Morel has only played CF for the last 2 weeks. Wisdom?
Jed was pretty clear that they were looking hard at Morel and would wait to call him up until until they were ready to play him regularly, so I assume they’ve made that decision. And, it was NV who was optioned. Bad deal for him, and I am not sure they got better here unless he gets a lot of starts at. 3B or DH, and hits. But, with Mervis at 1B, you have Hosmer at DH a lot.
Sure, but that doesn't explain Barnhart. The Cubs should petition MLB to be allowed to have two DHs when Barnhart is starting.
CB Bucknor hasn't shook off the effects of that shot to the head, yet.
Barnhart is 5-14 with a homer against Mikolas. That’s probably driving it.Sure, but that doesn't explain Barnhart. The Cubs should petition MLB to be allowed to have two DHs when Barnhart is starting.
