Nice of Smyly to get that guy into the record books...
Who would have thought that Taillon would be a game over .500 at this point of the season?
Jamo threw a hell of a game tonight. One mistake to Alonso and that was it. Absolutely gave his team a chance to win.Who would have thought that Taillon would be a game over .500 at this point of the season?
Thank God for that though as Smyly and Stroman have regressed.
Hopefully Stro was just pitching through injury and he’ll get healthy.Who would have thought that Taillon would be a game over .500 at this point of the season?

I’ve heard some in the org saw this one coming and that Jensen was maybe not the world’s nicest individual. We’ll see if any more comes out, but the Cubs are at a point, especially with pitchers, that they will have to make some cuts one way or another before next season. I like the 40-man freedom, especially if they lost their faith in Jensen. Remember that it was after the 2019 draft that the Cubs overhauled their whole org.Cubs apparently gave up on Ryan Jensen. Claimed off waivers by the Mariners. Tough to get absolutely nothing for a 1st round pick from 4 years ago. I was hoping he'd turn it around.
Welp, 40-man is down to 38. Wonder what the team's plans are...
I guess the Cubs really wanted him outta there and the Mariners must've known it. Might not be so bad for RJ, who will get placed on the active roster of a competitor. Looks like he could be making his MLB debut against the Orioles; tough spot. As far as the Cubs go, it gives me that much more hope that the team expects Boxberger to be back and effective in the near future, and that the org is also leaving the option open for a waiver wire addition of their own, if not a promotion from within (B. Horn and L. Little are both Rule 5 eligible in Nov and the top candidates to be 40-man additions, anyway).I’ve heard some in the org saw this one coming and that Jensen was maybe not the world’s nicest individual. This is the same reason I didn't get too worked up about trading DJ Herz. The Cubs system is doing a much better job at acquiring and developing arms. Herz and Jensen were both expendable.I’ve heard some in the org saw this one coming and that Jensen was maybe not the world’s nicest individual. I've really been hard on the guy but he's much better the last month.Nice job by Taillon tonight.
Morel batting leadoff? I don't understand the Cubs lineups at all. Do the analytics generate these lineups?
It's better then the usual 7th for him which I just don't understand.
In theory, if Taillon pitches like he has for the past 6 games for the next 3 years, that 2026 salary of $18M will be a huge bargain.I've really been hard on the guy but he's much better the last month.
He's still not worth the money they are paying him, but at least he's not getting lit up.
I'm old enough to get that reference, and remember how excited I was to get that gem from Southern Arkansas.RJ still a better 1st round pick than Hayden Simpson.
There was a blurb about this deal on BN a few days ago. The Rays picked up the remainder of his salary for this year, and got IFA money in return. The Rays knew they were dumping him when they traded for him. It was an accounting move.Adrian Sampson released by the Rays. Ouch! What a difference 12 months makes.
0-5 tonightI've seen enough of Happ in the 3 spot
