*****Official HORT Golf General Discussion Thread*****

LMAO you are such a little bitch.

I bet your wife has a bigger dick than you.
Do those corny, reused jokes from the 1980s work on your accounting friends? I know it’s hard for you to come up with some new material, but put in some effort. Come back when you have something original. Until then, focus on debits & credits.

Why would you support something that is going to ruin one of the greatest sports in the world?

I’ve never watched a YouTube video, read an article, clicked on ANYTHING LIV.

I’ll stop watching golf completely if I have to.

LIV is the f’n devil and any true golf fan should be opposed of it.

[very long post alert; TL;DR is I love all golf and a decision made in 1994 started the entire LIV ball rolling]

Get f*cked, old man. Your opinion is just that, an opinion. One cool thing is, you're entitled to your opinion. Another cool thing is I am entitled to not give two f*cks about your opinion or about you.

I think golf is the best game in the world. Golf, in many ways, mimics life itself. I can get deeper on that later if anyone cares. I LOVE the game of golf. Not to sound too dramatic but golf truly was my first love in life. I am 41 and I have been playing golf since I was 5. There is nothing like being on the course regardless of how you're playing or how you're scoring. There is no better feeling that sticking it close in front of a gallery and hearing the cheers and the roar. It makes my hair stand up on the back of my neck every single time (doesn't happen much anymore, sadly).

I enjoy the LIV product. I enjoy the PGA Tour product. I enjoy the DP WT product. I watch all of them and will continue to support all of them. The PGA Tour brought this upon themselves. They had over 2 years from the time people inside the tour found out about a potential rival league funded by the PIF to the formal announcement of LIV to figure out what to do about it and how to either squash it by joining forces or some other means or co-exist comfortably. Instead, they laughed and arrogantly brushed it off as something that would never be a threat to the mighty PGA Tour and Czar Monahan.

Then they were so close to at least SOMETHING with the framework agreement but Monahan was completely in over his head and Tiger remembered he only cared about Tiger and now it's all f*cked up again.

But if you REALLY want to play the blame game there is one guy and one moment in time that started this whole ball rolling.

The year 1994. Tim Finchem, New Commissioner of the PGA Tour. Blame rookie commissioner Finchem.

Long time world #1 Greg Norman came to Finchem (and Jack and Arnie) with an idea. WGT. World Golf Tour. Top 40 players play 8 (if I remember right) high purse tournaments a year. No cut. Just the best of the best 8 times a year. They would play all over the world to try and introduce non-Americans and non-Europeans to the game. It would be a separate entity from the PGAT but the PGAT would be part owner and Finchem, Jack and Arnie would be on the board. Arnie basically laughed him out of the room and Finchem, remember a rookie commissioner, followed suit.

Fast forward a handful of years. The PGAT starts a series of worldwide tournaments featuring the top 40 players in the world. No cut. Large purse. They called it WGC. World Golf Championships.

They COMPLETELY ripped Norman's idea off after laughing him out of the room and he didn't forget. I wouldn't forget either and neither would you. Norman's dream was always to have a world tour. All they had to do was either pull the trigger on WGT or give Norman a board seat or a small ownership percentage in the WGC and LIV would not exist.

Now... tell me, old man, that I don't love the game?

TLDR

BTW:

My LIV Experience (this will be much shorter because I am not as passionate about it):

1. The atmosphere was surprisingly awesome. Super fun. Not snobby. Fun is encouraged as long as you don't cross the line.
2. The music sucks but it's not as loud as they make it out to be on TV. Golf Club of Houston is a MONSTER of a property as far as land area goes and there were spots further away from 18 green where you couldn't hear the music much at all. They do have satellite speakers on some greens but they were not loud. Before the shotgun start the music was VERY loud and terrible and I hated it.
3. There were a lot of people. I went to Friday and Saturday of the Houston Open (PGA Tour) a few months ago and there were more at LIV.
4. Lots of very attractive women out there. More than any golf tournament I have been to (3-4 PGAT stops and The Masters) but well below open wheel racing events.
5. It was miserably hot and GCoH doesn't provide a lot of shade.
6. Expensive beers. After 18% tip and tax 6 beers came to $70.xx.
7. I forgot how miserable of a walk GCoH is. Nice course. Fun course. Terrible to walk.
8. It was so hot they let the players ride in carts between holes. It was disgustingly hot. Top 10 hottest I have every been and I live in Houston. Yuck. Sometimes (May-October) I wonder why I live here.
9. Parking was free. That was very surprising.
10. Tickets are very expensive (I was invited by a title company so I didn't pay). Worth it? I would absolutely say yes yes yes if it wasn't 110 degrees. The heat soiled the experience but overall I would absolutely recommend going at least once. It was a very different experience in a really good way.

The grumpy old man from earlier should stay away. God forbid what he would do if he saw such disgraces as golfers in shorts (except P Reed), shitty house music on the golf course and people having fun.

Triggered? Hardly. I was simply providing you facts on why your opinion is complete trash and you're uneducated on the real issue at hand. Enjoy your 210 yard drives, 18% GIRs and 20 handicap, bubba.
STILL triggered yes.

Btw, keep calling me old man moron. I’m also in my 40’s.

Lastly, I don’t play the game anymore. Took it too serious, was my passion.

My last response to you, I’m the better man and will walk away.

You’re acting like an old man, old man.

I should have guessed you’re also a quitter. Quitting your “passion”? Who does that? It was clearly not a passion. But go ahead and keep telling people that they’re wrong if they don’t share the same opinion of a game that you quit on.

F*cking putz.

Took it too serious = you were just lousy at it. Since accountants don’t have any athletic ability or hand-eye coordination it makes sense you were no good & had to give it up. What a pussy.

It’s certainly *a* look …

Who do you degens have for Jacks tournament tomorrow?

Degens unite! This should be a great 2 weeks. Jacks and then the US Open.

Core: X, S.W. Kim, Finau, Theegala

Fade: Scottie ‘cause I’m stupid.

Longshot: Fowler

Don’t know what to do because no matter what I do they will screw me like Syracuse in the NCAA: Homa

Give me your favorite core, fade, or long shot.

@hexumhawk @NoleinATL @seminoleed @fivecardstud14 @Greenway4Prez @WisestIowan @fredjr82 @Funky Bunch @jamesvanderwulf @JWolf74 @schraderj @Bank of Hawk @ICWestfan @Hawkman98 @DFSNOLE @Brian_Fantana @Kinnick 4 Prez @EpenesaEpenesa

Good not great week. My core went 8th, 8, 15, 12

Full faded Scottie on DK but I drove over to IL sportsbook to bet him to win this week and next.

He’s +400 to win the US Open. Those are stupid peak Tiger odds.

Give me your US Open winner not named Scottie?

At this point, seems to be Scottie vs. The rest of the field.

Hatton, Fleetwood and Aberg are my Euros this week. Lowry doesn’t have the length needed, in my opinion.

DK has Scottie at +300. Absolutely ridiculous. But I would be dumb not to bet him!

Lowry is averaging 303.6 off the tee this year. Fleetwood is averaging 297.3.

One of those you picked to win. The other you said wasn’t long enough to win.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Shots gains approach should be the #1 statistic this week when betting but not the only statistic that’s relevant.

Normally I’d look at historical winners but I can’t figure out any similarities between Payne, Campbell and Kaymer.

If you remove Campbell and make it Goosen who epically collapsed totally unexpectedly then you could make a connection to being top 5 players in the world and they were all some of the best putters in the world.

Also, none of them were exceedingly long hitters. Stewart could hit it long but it wasn’t really his calling card so to speak.

Clark said today the greens are already borderline. Maybe looking at a Shinnecock situation where they bring the hose out between groups.

I’ll be cheering for Scottie and placing a few parlays with hi. Winning or top 5.

In my pick’em league I’m thinking Bryson and Vik. I already used Scottie and others so need some magic here.

Bryson sprays it everywhere in his quest to be a long drive champ. I don't think Pinehurst will reward his style.
