Another stellar defensive effort. On pace to give up 100
The help defense is what I'm disgusted with the most. I actually like some of the scrapiness that we show at times.
But there is a LOT of conceding baskets when they dribble drive and somebody gets beat one on one.
The worst part is it carries over to the reasons why our rebounding is so piss poor as well......
Remember when I told you that Steven Ashworth was 7-11 from 3 in his last game?

The entire approach to defense is just terrible. Lack of effort and a terrible plan equals once again one of the worst defenses in a power conference.
Our D on ball screens reminds me of the 4th grade team I coach, and that is no exaggeration. I just don’t comprehend how this is a problem every year with Fran
I'm not sure how much Fran even teaches or our players understand help defense. Fran has been the constant through the years.... And our defense is usually sh**t
I just don’t get it. I can’t remember an iowa team beating someone off the dribble as easily as Iowa gets beat offthe dribble. Even against way less athletic teams

The half way measures of the defense are the most annoying. This team needs to realize they just don't play good half court defense so let's try full court defense. Speed up the game to an Iowa tempo by pressing the ball, trapping the ball and forcing hurried bad passes.
Hey Fran.... Maybe it's time to hire an assistant to teach defense....
We need to be more aggressive with the basketball on offense if we are not going to play defense.
For those bitching about playing zone, I think you are seeing why.
I always chuckle when fans complain about the media not grilling Kirk and Fran on things we don't do well on an annual basis.
We don't do those things well because that's part of who they are as coaches. They're not gonna change and no amount of complaining/watchdog media grilling is gonna change that.
Fran does not know how to coach good defense in 2021, and he is not willing to bring anyone in that can.
We're never going to be a consistently strong defensive team with Fran as HC. Someday he and his entire staff will be gone and then, and only then, will there be a chance for Iowa to once again compete at a high level and possibly make it past the first round again.
I'd love to b1tch slap that dude someday!
