Hezbollah destroys Israeli surveillance cameras along the Lebanese border as tension soars
BEIRUT (AP) — Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group said Monday it has started destroying surveillance cameras on several Israeli army posts along the border as tension rose following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.
Hezbollah’s military media arm released a video showing snipers shooting at and destroying surveillance cameras placed on five points along the Lebanon-Israel border including one outside the Israeli town of Metula.
The militant group appears to want to prevent the Israeli army from monitoring movements on the Lebanese side of the border after days of fire exchange that left at least seven people dead, including four Hezbollah fighters, on the Lebanese side.

Could be wrong. I will say watching Blinken talk the other day, that poor dude looks exhausted. I imagine anyone would be flying all over the place just trying to prevent this from spiraling…
Just think about what we felt like after 9/11…and what happened in Israel would have been the equivalent of 20,000 Americans dying that day.
I fully support Israel in this…but yeah, this all could go south pretty horrifically….world wide.
I dunno, that's a pretty long wait, isn't it? I think they just left Norfolk late last week.

I've seen 7-10 days. If I'm Israel, I'm not sure I want to let the global PR fires burn that long. At least not unless the commitment I'm getting from Blinken is exceptionally strong.
I’m not going to dig into this but my understanding is that the 2nd carrier is to relieve the 1st and was planned well in advance of this conflict. It shouldn’t be two carriers but maybe that changes and we’ll know if the first sticks around

Yeah I'd seen something to that effect as well, though if it is true that this is routine change of the guard, they sure aren't emphasizing that in the messaging. Two carrier groups is a world of hurt.

As I think I've said elsewhere, perhaps this reflects that the Administration has learned something from the UKR experience, ie, that placing American boots in harm's way before things get out of hand, even in putatively noncombatant roles, can be a greater deterrent to escalation by introducing a risk of killing Americans and what flows from that. One always has to debate whether situations are analogous, but ok by me.

I don't think people realize how bad this can get. My son is 25 and not in the military. Are any of your kids in the military?
Two of my sons are. One is a machine gunner in the the 1st Cavalry Division, the other is a combat medic in a Parachute Infantry battalion. Very proud of them, they’ll do their job if asked.
This Israel thread has taken 9 days to reach 54th page. By comparison, the equivalent Ukraine thread took just 2 days to get there.
This issue is more polarizing compared to the majority being for team Ukraine. So lots of cheering going on that thread while people on here don’t know how to react imo. Lots of “kill those orcs” compared to not knowing how this will effect the USA and our citizens personally.
I think this is a way bigger deal for America compared to the Ukraine-Russia war. This could be the catalyst for a whole host of things with none of those things being good at all.

Sure, we could take out many top leaders in Iran quickly, but we are in their backyard with plenty of firepower, and a thousands of mile long logistical trail. Again, our carrier groups are within range of a lot of nasty shit.

This whole situation is confusing and nothing seems definitive. Apparently one group is attacking the other. But apparently they’ve been convinced not to.
