jNorthwestern 13
Iowa 31

Iowa offense finally opens it back up and gets rolling again.

NW 14
Iowa 31

Not seeing too many reasons as to why this won't be more of the same from last year. I think they just flat out match up badly with Iowa. Iowa needs to shore up the middle of the field though.

Going to be tough. NW is a type of team with their spread that will get Jewell out of the box. I don't know if their stud LB will be back or not. Wasn't he injured in the NEBBIE game?

Iowa has to do what it did last year. Play smart defense and cause some turnovers. The offense has to pound the ball down the field. Use all 3 backs and try some screen passes to get our speedy guys out in space.

I have been way off the past two weeks with score predictions. I dropped 300$ on NW and points. So I gotta say:

Iowa 23 (we get a safety)
NW 17

Tight ballgame and the defense has to make a stop late in the game.

Iowa 27
Northwestern 17

ESPN's FPI gives Iowa an 80% chance to win. I haven't looked into how FPI works but what I found interesting is despite Iowa's struggles the last two games Iowa is favored to win every game according to FPI except Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. Wisconsin and Nebraska are listed as 50/50 while FPI gives Iowa a mere 20% chance to beat Michigan. I was surprised that it favors Iowa over both Minnesota and Penn State on the road. The Minnesota-Penn State matchup should be an interesting one this weekend.

You won't find anywhere how FPI works, AFAIK ESPN hasn't shared their formula, which is a garbage metric IMO

I did see a stat where NW is 14 out of 14 teams in the Big Ten in 3rd down pick ups. Iowa is something like 2nd or 3rd in the league. So that might bode well for the hawks. I really don't care what stats are, this game will be a tight contest. Fitz hates Iowa and I know they are 1-3, but a win at Iowa changes their season.

Hell we both lost to FCS teams on last second field goals!

I can see this game being really ugly.
A QB not very crisp on his throws lately main receiver out.
NW normally plays us very well.
i can see us only putting up 14 again thankfully our D is playing better then our offence go i give them 10

I actually see Iowa putting more emphasis on the run. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar result as last year. Pound them, get them on the ropes early as Northwestern's season has gone so far, I can see them folding.

I have no feel for this game. I wouldn't be surprised by anything. The cats are turrible. We're not much better right now.

All field goals:
NW 9
IA 15

FPI officially includes last year's record and 4 years of recruiting rankings as part of the formula. Garbage system.
