***Official little too early World Championships thread***

Some info from a schedule posted a couple weeks ago, I did not check for updates so take it for what it is:

Womens FS Sept 12-15
Mens FS Sept 15-18

Did they let the Russians back in?

Winchester got bullied by her Japanese opponent and will wrestle for bronze at 55kg.

Miracle lost the challenge on a questionable TD and trailed 3-0 before using a modified fireman’s to secure the fall! She will wrestle for Gold at 62kg.

I didn't see that kind of domination coming from the Japanese woman. Dang!

The Japanese woman was at 53kg prior. That really shocked me

Hildebrandt and Parrish into the semis. Velte needs Japan to win in the semis to get pulled back in

Dymond Guilford got knocked out, no medal for her.

Winchester (bronze) & Miracle (gold) wrestling for medals in a few hours.

Hildebrandt and Parris are dominating so far. Have outscored their opponents 41-0.

Velte's qf was pretty frustrating to watch. After opponent got the initial td in 1st, was very, very defensive. Constantly burying her head, blocking off, and backing up. Hard to understand why they weren't put on the clock.

Guilford was a close exchange away from possibly advancing. Was down 1-0 and on the clock. Had opponent on edge and almost got the stepout, but Guilford's foot ended up going oob 1st, putting opponent up 3-0 after stepout and shot clock. It was close, but looked like the right call.

I know they are. I just thought being a former World Champ she would make it a (somewhat) competitive match.
Yeah I get that, But hitting a brick wall like some of these young Japanese women are is nothing surprising. US women are right with them now as the top team in the world which is extremely impressive considering the timeline since our womens team really started developing.

Parrish will wrestle for gold. Won 3-2 in semis.

Hildebrandt falls 6-2 and will wrestle for bronze.

Velte is pulled back in and will wrestle for bronze.

Not sure how many times Hildebrandt has to shoot, without any offense from her opponent, to get a passivity call...apparently it was more than 5.

No freestyle expert, but Mongolia held center very well which I think plays a bigger role on passivity than shot count.

Winchester up 10-4 at break.

Shit. Td for Winchester, but China steps over on a turn attempt by Winchester and put her to her back. Jacarra fighting hard, but eventually gets pinned.

Thanks for the updates and observations! This thread is remarkably well composed for how old it is. I have no doubt it will go to shit and pissing contests by this time next week.

Helen, Tamyra, and Elor all into the semis.

Abby Nette has a chance to be pulled back in. Needs Norway to win in that semis match

Reminder that we have Hildebrandt (bronze), Parrish (gold), & Velte (bronze) wrestling for medals today.
