Boy, it sure would be sweet if:

(1) we could sweep this 4 game series

(2) we could get some help from Penn State (who play 3 games this weekend at tOSU).

(3) the separation of the top 4 teams from the rest of the pack grows


Note that tOSU is on a 5 game losing streak!

Maryland and Northwestern are potent offensively, pitching is a bit of a roller coaster for them. They are both tough outs. Iowa gains a few RPI points by beating Maryland, they lose points even if they beat Northwestern. They lose a lot of points by losing even one home game to Northwestern.

As far as tOSU/PSU goes its a catch 22. If tOSU wins, Iowa gains points in the RPI. PSU doesn’t impact Iowa yet, but it’d be nice to see them with a higher RPI when they come to Iowa City.

I’m starting to wonder if Wallace isn’t starting to feel the effects of his first full time season as a starter. He battled against Minnesota, got ran early vs Rutgers, and got in a huge jam the first inning here, hopefully he comes out with some momentum now.
