ERA is an overrated statistic. Look at his WHIP of 1.16 entering this game and his K:BB ratio. He had 62K and 17BB which is roughly 3.6 K per walk, you want above 2:1.
Burke has given Iowa plenty of free bases and chances, they’ve had really bad at bats with RISP. Nedved has not been good at all.
Wallace has battled, but I’m wondering if the amount of pitching is starting to take its toll. His ERA looks good, but his WHIP and K:BB ratio creep into territory where it’s borderline for a dominant arm.
Bottom line is that Iowa has been on the bubble every year since 2017 and failed to seal the deal, let’s see how this plays out , but they’ve had nobody to blame but themselves.

Back-to-BACK squeeze bunt runs! That was awesome. Especially the last slide. That’s some Holiday Bowl, three straight QB sneaks type of flex, there.

Two squeezes in a row. Too bad it wasn't three. Maybe Heller watched Nate Stanley QB sneak USC to death a couple of years ago in San Diego.
This is a big win for Iowa Baseball. Kind of separating the top four now it seems. Iowa allowe Burke to get in a groove after the first two innings where they had chances. Burke really ran that pitch count up, and ran into trouble finally. Credit to Iowa for battling and coming through.

Threw very well vs Iowa in the first matchup as well. Had 11 strikeouts in that one and allowed one earned run.
Not as clean with walks tonight, but Burke is still a good #1.
he is impressive. it was almost like Iowa was biding its time as if they knew things would get better once he left
how does MBL rate him (what round might he go)?
Ohio State breaks its 5 game losing streak by beating PSU and is just 2 games behind Iowa.

Does anyone know what time gates open today? I have a friend that wants to take his son to batting practice, if that is allowed. TIA!
I do not now exactly when gates open. I generally show up an hour early to get my stuff set up, but the opposing team is doing batting practice by then. If I had to guess I would say 90 minutes early just like other sports?
Iowa goes up +6 in RPI last night after a gritty win to #34, just keep winning!

Can’t give up the walks like the Hawks did last night and today so far. Irvine needs to settle down and find his groove while the Hawks need to bring out their piss pound the ball bats on offense.
