****Official NCAA Tournament Thursday Thread****

Is Iowa athletic enough to keep up with a PG like Ja Morant if he played for Iowa?

The funny thing about Ja is, that he was lightly recruited and only South Carolina offered him a scholarship, he was unranked coming out of high school despite leading his 3A South Carolina team for 3 years in assists and points. An assistant from Murray St. happened to see him play a 3 on 3 pickup game while looking at a recruit that was already signed by M St.
If only our coach and assistants weren't so infatuated with all those 4 and 5 star recruits that have little or no interest in Iowa and spend more time finding these players that fall under the radar, Iowa might actually get some of these athletic and productive players.
Seems the Mid Major teams in this tournament have no problem finding these players.

It seems the board consensus is that Iowa simultaneously focuses on 4/5 star players too much and also never goes for the good 4 and 5 star players. Guess you can’t please everyone.

I don’t care either way.....just get some good ones!

I can’t describe how happy I would be if Fran brought in an assistant who happened to be a great defensive coach AND had a Reese Morgan type eye for recruiting diamonds in the rough.

It really sucks that in the East Region, there could be a match up between two B1G teams in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I guess they want to make sure that mighty ACC doesn't have to play B1G teams until late in the dance. The east coast bias is alive and well again this year.

some really odd calls within 3 minutes of the Florida game. Anticipating fouls that aren't there

One of the announcers in the game mentioned that he played AAU ball with Zion W. You would think that someone would have spent a minute or two looking at the guy dishing the dimes to Zion?

Nova struggled with St. Mary's. St. Mary's had several chances but they did not convert.

If Nova doesn't play any better, Purdue will blow them out.
St Marys didn't have a chance. Villanova’s coach was especially decked out tonight.

Looked like 3 grand worth of Italian fabric slate-blue double-breasted with “Gabriele” shirt. Pleated arms even.

Purdue will probably do better against that.

Carson Edwards has been either red hot or ice cold down the stretch. Purdue had better hope it is the former if they are going to go far.

B1G looking pretty good so far, at least in the win/loss sense. Hope we can continue the trend.

The guy really blew up this year. Averaged 11+ last year and improved to 25+ this year. As someone said after the game whatever he did in the off-season they're a lot of players that would like to know his secret.

It is evident that a switch went on; however, you cannot coach his quickness. For many players that make such a huge leap in ability, the game slows down for them. He gave credit to the large number of games that he watches.

With Michigan up 17 (9 minutes left) and Purdue up 18 (14:30 left), B1G well on their way to a 5-0 first day. No jinx! :)

Wofford and SH is a fun game to watch. Both teams have guys that are taking over. Wofford hitting more 3s....Magee unconscious from 3

Baylor and the Cuse are on the verge of breaking the tournament record for made 3's at 30 made. Both teams have 28 with a couple of minutes to go.
