It's not about it being a slide or not, it's about it being a late hit. He was already on the ground when he was hit and in the head/neck area at that.

I hate ticky tack calls that have become prevalent in football the past several years but that to me was a late hit. Granted I'm a bit biased, but had a Husker done that to a Hawkeye I would have probably viewed it in the same light.

He didn't get a slide in any way, was doing some kind of sideways dive laydown. Defender was in a good tackling level and runner lowered at last second. The pussification of football

no he was not down as he was still off the ground. to be down your knee or ass needs to hit the field 1st before it can be a late hit.

but hey Nebraska has been getting away with holding all game long.
