Right, he was in a trade, so was James Shields and Jake Peavy. The Sox will trade for "big names" but I don't know if they've ever gone out and bid big dollars on a "big name" free agent.
In this millennium, they’ve certainly had better luck via the draft, or with castaways rather than dealing for established names.
Too many miles on that arm imo.Hamels would make sense not a high end guy at this stage but a solid 3-4 type.
