with the Minnesota game being at 5:30, will the Ohio State game the following week still presumably be a night game?

The new ESPN/FOX contract brings more night games. At this point, I think the OSU game being at night still seems likely.

This could be our (OSU) 4th road Big Ten night game of the year. I know Urban is not happy about this and spoke with AD Gene Smith about this. Fox is strictly looking at ratings only but there should be a limit on how many conference night games any Big 10 team plays in one year. The road/home split should also play a part in deciding night games. It's funny that our Penn State game is at 3:30. I guess the Indians possibly playing in the World Series was a factor in that decision.

Urban and Chris Petersen should go in together on a box of whine.

i think its pretty clear Urban is lobbying against it with his comments last week. I think he would rather avoid Kinnick at night if he could. This is not to be confused with a lack of confidence at all. However, there is a fairly large sample size that a traditionally salty team is tough to deal with under the stars at Kinnick. With their home stretch includes psu, IOWA, Mich St, Mich. that is a test even for a supremely talented team.

Good. Let that be a distraction to the point where you only score 7 pts against Iowa and your try-hard defense doesn't hold us to just 6. Deal with it.

Friends? :)

Well, he's entitled to do that. However, his opinion on the matter will probably carry about as much weight as my opinion on the matter when all the people making decisions care about are ratings.

Here's a thought to get your day games back, put together 4 or 5 seasons in a row of going 7-5. That will get you a crap ton of day games :p

Why is this a problem? I honestly don't understand why he would be upset about that. Seems like a compliment to me. Does he think the game would be more winnable if played during the day? Less crowd noise when people don't have a full day of loud mouth soup? What?

Just makes him sound like a whiny, little b!tch.

That won't happen. It's either 3:00 PM or 7:00 PM. FOX didn't pay all that money to the Big Ten for it's biggest television ratings draw to play a noon kickoff game on ABC.
This. Most likely 3:00 for Iowa vs Ohio State. Penn State vs Michigan State most likely the 7:00 pm game.

It's typical Coach think. Coaches who are control freaks and worry about every hour's utilization see a late night Saturday game, especially a road game, make Sunday a throw away day in the preparation for the next week.

He’s an idea. Start to suck at football. Those road night games should dry up real fast. Everybody wins.

Limiting night games during the season sounds fine, as long as we agree on a limit to how many 5-star players each team can have on their roster at one time. Sound good? Guess what Urban, you have a great team at a premier program. You are going to play a lot of night games.

Highly likely that OSU's postseason game(s) will be at night and not in the shoe, either. Meyer should crave opportunities to play under those conditions.

Honestly, I think he has a point. A slate of road night games would make things tougher. And the big brand teams do also play the tougher teams more often. They have other (recruiting) advantages, but I don't think he's out of line asking for things to even out some.

I think there should be a limit on the 11am cst 9am pst games these are for tv only. I would much rather have night games than early morning games.

Dislike the 11am games due to the flatness of them in general. Flat crowd and many times flat team. 2:30pm are the best kick times for fans although who doesn't like to be there when the lights are on. Yeah it sucks getting home late for sure but for game atmosphere the night games are the best.

There are limits on free tattoos and free shoes. We found that out from Sweater Vest.

I don't think his issue was necessarily about how difficult it is to play on the road at night because of the environment it is the other factors that most people don't think about. It's obviously a lot more time away from campus and a lot of times their teams aren't getting home until the sun is almost up. That is difficult on anyone

Do you go to these games?
I usually fly back for one game a year and early games suck. Also 9am games pst make it tough on me to watch as I work swing the night before. So this means either get maybe 3 hours of sleep or sleep through it.

I think Urbie should shut his trap and have his team ready to play at whatever time Fox says!
