125- perfect ending for his last home match. Witcraft tried to junk him but thankfully Spencer was up to the task.

133- during the match I was thinking it was the best Teske had looked all year but then with fix gassed and plenty of time he kind of spazzed out and got out of control ending up on his back and giving up bonus.

141- Young had been wrestling well but I wasn't especially concerned because Young struggles on bottom and Real is money on top. It went how I figured.

149- VV is a pretty tough wrestler and very technical so not a lot of openings to hit. Very happy to see Max come through with the win.

157- not the same Cobe we have seen IMO although he battled hard. Probably the shoulder affecting him. We can't make it 1 MF week without a guy getting injured. So frustrating.

165- Sheets is not an easy guy to wrestle. PK gave up the one counter but was getting in deep nicely and the counter he hit right when Sheets tried to limp arm was beautiful.

174- I have complained about Nelson's excessive hand fighting at times but he hand fought the living hell out of Plott. Would love another score or two but nice win.

184- Abe's arm was clearly affecting his ability to hold on and finish a couple of those shots but he hit a nice scramble and gutted out a tough win.

197- super happy Jacob was able to win. It was a bit of a struggle but he got it done. I'll take ugly wins over losses any day and right now we will be losing a lot more at 197 next year without him.

285- boring ass match. Nothing more to say.

Okie State was came prepared and gave us their A game but we responded nicely.

Cowboys Fall to Hawkeyes in Regular Season Finale

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Oklahoma State wrestling team fell to No. 2 Iowa, 28-7, on Sunday in the team's final dual of the regular season.

The Hawkeyes took control of the dual early behind a series of tight wins, building a 15-0 lead heading into intermission.

In the opening bout of the afternoon, No. 23 Wyatt Sheets held a lead over No. 7 Patrick Kennedy after two periods, but Kennedy would go on to pick up a 7-4 decision following a pair of takedowns in the final 54 seconds.

Three more closely-ranked matches ensued at 174, 184 and 197 pounds, with the Hawkeyes taking all three by a combined margin of victory of four.

At heavyweight, No. 3 Tony Cassioppi sent Iowa into the break with a 15-0 advantage after a 4-0 decision over No. 22 Konner Doucet.

Following intermission, No. 1 Spencer Lee pinned No. 28 Reece Witcraft in 51 seconds, extending the Iowa lead to 21-0.

No. 2 Daton Fix got the Cowboys on the board at 133 pounds, defeating No. 16 Brody Teske with an 11-3 major decision. Fix held a slight 4-3 edge early in the third period, but built on his lead with a takedown, four-point near fall and riding time point in the closing minutes.

The Hawkeyes went on to take two more matches at 141 and 149 pounds, as No. 2 Real Woods defeated No. 15 Carter Young, 11-0, and No. 6 Max Murin narrowly beat No. 20 Victor Voinovich by a score of 4-3.

No. 9 Kaden Gfeller closed the dual with a 3-2 decision over No. 13 Cole Siebrecht, in which he escaped in the first tiebreaker and got a ride out in the second to ice the match.

The Cowboys finished the regular season with a 14-3 record and will return to the mat in Tulsa for the Big 12 Championships at the BOK Center on March 4-5.

Okie State looked better than some of their early season results showed.

IMO, with a smaller mat and a home crowd ref, they could have won another 1-2 matches in Stillwater.
