Olympics

You are correct; but the opening ceremony was over the top in a “jumped the shark” kind of way. Really bizarre way to highlight your country to the world.
It did. But I watch the Olympics for the competition and to cheer on our athletes competing for our country. Athletes have dedicated their lives to this event and I think they deserve to be watched by the world’s spectators. JMO of course.

Very well stated.

More Snoop content. Curious to know how/why this engagement occurred.

people are addicted to being mad and this is just the latest thing. they'll forget it in three days and move on.
JS, would you say the same thing if the opening ceremonies were mocking black people, mocking gays, or mocking trans people? I don't think so. You can write your snark response as you please, but you are a smart guy, and I'd encourage you to think about that question.

I wonder if there is an exclusive Olympian Tinder style App for hooking up while they are in the Village.

Would Jesus care? I don't think so.
Why yes, yes he would. The greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul. I am pretty sure mocking Jesus and advocating violation of the ten commandments would be a problem for Him. I do believe that type of behavior is the cause for the end times. So yes, Jesus would care.

France is, by and large, very atheistic and pretty anti-clerical. And I say that as somebody who has spent a lot of time there, speaks the language well, and loves the country. Way back in the 18th century, the philosopher Denis Diderot, one of the main figures of the Enlightenment, wrote: “Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.” In less militant form, that belief remains widespread there to this day. I think that elements of the opening ceremony reflected that.

So, now you know the heart of Jesus. And it’s a vengeful heart. Seriously?

If you need an app to bang someone in the Olympic village you are doing it very, very wrong.
Careful, spooner. These are new times. Hookups might not even have to happen in person these daze to count as a notch on the bedpost, er, device.

But back in the olden days, word has it athletes used to just hang out at the condom displays erected around the Olympic Village iso their next hookup.

Replacing Jesus with Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and feasting, is a pretty fitting tribute to French culture. Especially for an Olympic ceremony.

France should never host a major sporting event again. That LBGTQXYZ sex show and mockery of Christianity is inexcusable.
Ugh.. shut up.

1. It’s FRANCE. They have no duty to you or anyone else to have the same values you do.

2. It wasn’t a tableau of the last supper. It was a bacchanal - you know what that is right? Because you’re educated?

I'm educated enough to know these things that you are clueless about.

1. France can do whatever it wants whenever it only applies to France. This is a world event with a world audience and participants. As a host, you should NEVER deliberately offend your guests.
2. Apparently, you are the only one dumb enough to not know that it was a mockery of The Last Supper.
3. It was not appropriate taking an international event and pushing your "sexual activity". I would have been outraged even if this was a heterosexual presentation. Sexual displays has NOTHING to do with the Games and is not family appropriate.

BTW, I don't follow commands from a blooming idiot. I will continue to speak out.

How was Jesus mocked, and what was the commandment that was advocated to be violated?

As far as violating the 10 commandments or committing sin period, without sin there would have been no need for Jesus' visit nor his suffering.

Pretty sure Jesus would not have cared that a group of transgender folks participated in a reenactment of the Last Supper.

BTW. you're literally the only "idiot" here. When presented with facts, are you capable of changing your offended sensibilities? Probably not, but let's give this a shot.

1. EVERY country that hosts the Olympics has a duty and is permitted to celebrate the opening of the games as they see fit, in line with their values so long as its not a human rights violation. London - had the queen and a "celebrity" James Bond. China - a marvel in communism efficiency, DRAGONS (oh noooooo) and DRUMS.

Rio had Carnivale and Gisele in A DRESS! Oh my word, the SEXUALITY!!!!

2. I'm going to put this here, and i need to you actually read. and it's clear you didn't watch the broadcast, because the snippet that is rolling around the internet fails to show THE VERY NEXT SCENE - which is a blue man who is depicting the Greek god Dionysus.

i need to make this very clear - IT WAS A REENACTMENT OF A GREEK BACCHANAL. It's called the "feast of the gods" and it was done by FRENCH painter Jan Harmensz van BILJERT.

3. Actors dressing up - whether they are trans/cis/drag is NOT inherently sexual. That's a you problem. Grow up. It's a different country and just because you don't LIKE it, doesn't make it some "sexual display." So again. It's called education. You don't like cross-dressing drag queens, no problem and explain that to your family/children. No one cares. Not a big deal.

Agreed. The Harmensz was Dutch. To me it appears that Harmensz is riffing off DaVinci's last supper. The similarities between these depictions can be traced back to the artwork. But I think the blue Dionysus is a clear indicator that this is an illusion to the feast of the gods and not the last supper.

My apologies, Dutch painter, but the painting currently hangs in the Musée Magnin in Dijon, France (the painting has been the property of the French state since 1938)
