One way or the other millions of people in this country are insane…

It's not the players, it's the 'system', i.e., the government that is the problem. Trump - the man who took a hundred million dollar donation from Israel (via Miriam Adelson) just attacked Thomas Massie (R - KY) the only congressman who hasn't accepted one DIME on their behalf. The SOLE, fiscally responsible Republican getting a new asshole ripped by this buffoon should be enough to wake up the GOP...but it won't. 🤡🤡🤡

Follow the money to find the corrupting influences. People who worship Trump are no different than those who loathe him. He's an actor playing a role for our real overlords, who must keep us divided so the show can go on.

"Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic 'NO' vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He's just another GRANDSTANDER, who's too much trouble, and not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before her historic, record-breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won't stand for it, just watch. DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS???"

If shit continues to free fall in our Country maybe the antitrump candidate will have the advantage in a primary…

I didn't believe demons.

Donald Trump changed my mind.

I seriously am 50 percent convinced Trump is either a literal demon or under some kind of demonic guidance.

In a way, even the MAGAs sense this, but they say he is anointed by God or God is working through him. His survival of the assassination attempt is viewed as evidence of his divine sponsorship.
Couldn’t just be the guy was a lousy shot….👂

And given the unwavering commitment millions have to the idea Trump is the GOAT of politicians—a position they have neither floundered nor budged an inch on—does it at least give any Trump naysayers pause as to question their own sanity?
I actually have paused and thought about this.

Here's the thing, though. NOTHING he has said is going to be "better" has even come close yet. In fact, all actual "reality" signs point to the opposite - higher prices, worse stock market, more dangerous foreign policy.

Shit, I WANT to be wrong! I 100% want the U.S. to be wealthy, prices to go down and the world to respect America as a leader. Can anyone provide any evidence that is happening right now?

Yep. I was also just thinking about how many Americans want to live in a dictatorship...it may be half.
That is because a whole lot of people just want someone to tell them what to do. Are they intellectually bored that they cant think for themselves, many of them are poorer ... whatever that has to do with it.

Egg prices dropped almost 2 bucks in the last 30 hours.

I think you guys continue think that most of the country is as partisan as this board usually is, with some straight up MAGA people, and other people aligned straight down the woke line.

Most of the country is not like that, and can see things in shades of gray...

Polling consistently shows that the public is not with Trump on the tarriffs/economy and on Ukraine, and is with him on the border trans in womens sports and the philosophy (if not the method) of smaller government (although Elon is running that support into the ground possibly).

The Republicans will absolutely be punished, just like the Democrats were, for the economy and inflation. Stock market is important, but as Biden's team found out, nothing tops grocery bills and monthly budgets to American voters.

Trump's initial disinterest in inflation, after it basically got him elected, was foolhardy. Charging ahead with these policies, to the opposition of almost everyone, is likely to be electorally devastating to Republicans.

I think most Americans really don’t pay attention. You hear primarily from the loud 50%. 25% right and 25% left. 50% are kind of ambivalent.

I read a book on politics in Communist China probably 40 years ago and it describes the political leanings of most Americans. In the book, it said that most Chinese were unconcerned about politics. Communist or not, they didn’t care. They just wanted their rice bowl filled every day. That’s the 50% of Americans. They just want their rice bowls filled.

As an AnCap I would take Massie over DeSantis or Vance but there's a fine line.
If there's no 'free fall' then Vance will definitely have an advantage in '28.

If it falls just hard enough then maybe there's room for an anti-Trump republican, but DeSantis did eventually Kiss the Ring when he saw the writing on the wall so can he really claim that mantra anymore?

If the economy and society collapse it won't matter; the Dems will make a strong comeback (unless it's Kamala 2.0).

People aren't blind. Lots of us Trump voters realize he is a flawed man. To be honest, I voted for him knowing this, but I also know that his win is largely of the Democrats doing at the end of the day.

Had they been normal no chance Trump wins.

Quickly, these things were a turn off to many.
Men in womens sports
Identity over accomplishment
Unfettered illegal immigration
Inflation
Most importantly, the sense of many was that the entirety of government was turned loose on Trump after his win in 2016. Many saw this as an assault on them personally.

Had Biden and the democrats simply left Trump alone after 2016 and controlled the border like is happening now, Trump would have lost or not run at all. He felt so wronged and prosecuted, literally and figuratively, that he had to run again to change the historical narrative from 1 termer to the greatest comeback in political history.

So, I know this isn't a comfortable thing to consider but Trump didn't win because people are crazy and worship him (not enough to win anyway) Trump won because the Democrats went crazy. This is the key to getting back the presidency for Democrats. What is even crazier is that they seem to have learned absolutely nothing. They continue to fight in the courts. They continue to do crazy shit at the speech before Congress.

Trump would not be President if the Democrat party had actual normal leadership and direction. That is my opinion and you may not like it or agree but I think the analysis is pretty accurate.
your first thought is correct, if dem's would be more normal.
Yet the rest is just crazy drivel. None of the things you listed are worse than the person trump is and the threat he is to our country. I highly doubt that in my final 30 years or so on this planet I will see any of the normalcy that was here prior to trump.
Trump is so bad, people look at george w bush with reverence.

Social media has already destroyed the Republican party, and it will be the downfall of this country, if not human kind.

What die hard Trumpers are fed algorithmically is akin to eating McDs for breakfast/lunch/dinner and being surprised you're fat. Then denying your fat, and changing the 'facts' to claim McD is good for you and your not fat after all.

It's junk food that makes them feel good in the moment, it's cheap, it's easy, and no thought is required.

At the same time, I don’t understand how any good person could vote for someone who is so vile, ignorant, and petty. I will never understand it.
This is the part I truly don't understand and will never forgive Trump voters for.

Regardless of any politics, the evidence that that man is a giant, lying piece of shit has been known for DECADES. He was a giant, lying, racist, gross piece of shit when he was a DEMOCRAT in the 1980s.

Everything about Trump the person should be 100% unelectable to anyone with a moral compass or ethics.

This should be pinned to the top of the board.

Provided of course we don’t accidentally disenfranchise American voters along the way. While I think that risk is still somewhat small, it is certainly >0% and I never thought I would see that in modern day America.

Totally agree.

It’s interesting that people cite the NYPost as a source.

We former commuters read WSJ and NYT on the ride, then NYP for sports and gossip. Trump was always in the NYP because of his antics. Truly a joke. That was the ‘80’s and ‘90’s.
I was a Republican until 2016.

I just couldn’t believe that he got the nomination. To me, might as well have given it to a Kardashian.

This. Listen to him speak ffs….that should be all you need to decide, policies be damned….

My first decision point when deciding who to vote for is "is this a decent human being."

When I had the displeasure of meeting John Edwards on the campaign trail back when I was still a newspaper reporter, his creepy unctious, phony persona and general vibe was so awful I knew there was no way in hell I could vote for him, even if he somehow had won the Democratic primary and ran against GWB, whose policies I hated but whose patriotism, love of country and willingness to be a public servant I never questioned.

Likewise, there is a former Davenport mayoral candidate and now state rep who is one of the leading Democrats in Scott County and I know for a fact he's a mysoginistic creep. I refused to vote for him, even though I am desperate to see more Democrats in the Iowa statehouse.

It blows my mind people willingly vote for people they know are creeps and crooks just because of party affiliation. And Trump is the prime example of that. Even his SUPPORTERS admit he lies and is a jackass often.

Either Trump is this larger-than-life superhero politician leading America into unprecedented prosperity and prestige that only insane people are impervious to, or Trump is the lying, demented, narcissistic, train wreck con artist who is driving this country into catastrophe that only MAGAs are blind to.

It’s one or the other.

Think about it. Given the lines that have been drawn there is practically no in-between.

So, with that said, who among us are insane—MAGAs or MAGA naysayers? Again, it’s one or the other. And given the unwavering commitment millions have to the idea Trump is the GOAT of politicians—a position they have neither floundered nor budged an inch on—does it at least give any Trump naysayers pause as to question their own sanity? As long as the Trump hype has persisted implacably, yeah, I sometimes wonder what I am missing.

Crazy.
I'll side with the ones who believe in science and not the side that has literal wannabe Nazis and actual white supremacists on their side.

This is why I think the next decade will be very interesting. Half of America has very little in common with the other half.

And it’s not even split somewhat cleanly via south and north.

If the economy tanks, watch out, this whole situation is a tinderbox

There are several definitive spits in the demographics, most notably Urban versus Rural. Also white men versus everyone else.

+4% on "Balancing Federal Budget"?!? LOL. That goes to show you how stupid we are as a populace. Nearly every report shows the DOGE cuts and tariffs won't come close to paying for the massive tax cuts for the rich.

I would argue that at the end of the day, if the person is going to vote the way you want them to vote, shouldnt that be who you vote for?

From a pure logic standpoint, probably.

But I just cannot pull the lever for someone I know is a piece of shit, regardless of whether they agree with me on the issues or not.

Character matters.

Wonder where that "white male vs everyone" came from...

Fwiw, it wasn't "white" male in 2024, it was "men who hold traditional values" vs "everyone" which is why you saw the Hispanic and black community swing.

I will never forget the day this group of people, who fancy themselves intelligent, couldn't even begin to discuss the aspects of toxic feminism.

That, unfortunately, is the democratic party in a nutshell.
