Only 3 Teams Make Up Next Years Pre-Season #1

So I expect all ex PSU wrestlers to win every world and olympic gold from here on out, no exceptions. o_O

I believe Sadulaev will have something to say about that.

It's crazy. First poster I have ever put on ignore - I don't mind internet message board differing points of view - and now I have to do it again on another board. Can't Rivals make a universal ignore button?

You may want to try thinking a little harder.

That match was pretty even. It could have gone either way. So, I won't argue your point that Valencia would "give Hall all he wants."

But Valencia is an over sized "redshirt freshmen" while Hall is an undersized "true freshmen." To suggest that Valencia has more room for improvement/development at 174 is wishful thinking on your part.

The biggest jump in improvement generally happens for most wrestlers after their first year in the room. That is college wrestling 101. You just FAILED that course with your analysis, er...wish!
The only "improvement" Valencia needs in a match against Hall, is a referee with the balls to call stalling over and over when he sees it. Same can be said for Bo Jordan. A whole building full of people could see it easily, and I presume those watching at home, yet a guy standing a few feet away swallows his whistle repeatedly. Unbelievably bad officiating is why Mark Hall is a National Champion today. I'm assuming they've received their stipend from good ol' Mark by now.

They needed the ref from the Rocky Lombardi match.

That should have no effect on you if you are an Iowa fan: Neither Mark Hall, nor Zahid Valencia, nor Bo Jordan, wrestle for Iowa, and none of those matches made enough of a point difference to change any of the top team standings.

Actually, this is incorrect. Might want to do your homework before calling someone else out on being wrong.

And what makes us tOSU fans even more salty is that just 3 years earlier, we lost a finals match (Nick Heflin vs J'Den Cox) because a ref actually did have the balls to call stalling late in the 3rd. Called it on Heflin giving J'den a 1 point lead and the win.

Stalling? On Heflin? Against somebody in the Top 10? It took a LOT of imagination by that ref.

Moore's W-L still better

Pretty sure that all of CP's reasons for making Gulibon (AA 5th at 133) the preseason #1 over highest returning placer Heil (4th at 141) hold true for Miklus:
1) history of good wins
2) moving up from a loaded weight class into a weak weight class missing both finalists.

Except for the fact that Moore didn't lose 117 times like Heil did during the regular season only to make an unexpected run at NCAA's. Other than that, I really don't agree with you! ;)

Gulibon went 24-9 the previous season, while Heil went 27-9

I wasn't making an excuse for Gulibon. He definitely didn't deserve the 1 ranking. I was just pointing out that Moore had a WAAAY better season than Heil.

Also, Heil was 27-10. :D

You are ignoring the crux of the argument that 197 was and will be a very weak weight class, while 184 was and will be in contention for the strongest weight class. You can't compare seasons or AA placements when the weight classes were/are so disproportionate.

You could, however, argue that moving up a weight class is no guarantee of success even if it is a weaker weight (see Gulibon's 14-11 record at 141).

197 was THIN but not weak. Cox, Pfarr, Moore and Haught were as good of a top 4 as any weight. Nothing Miklus accomplished at 184 would put him ahead of any of those guys regardless of how thin 197 was after them.
