Only one more loss to endure

I wish it wasn't true because im sick of being the worst defensive team in the league every stinking year but the thing about being great at half of the game is you're going to win plenty of games.

Ultimately it goes nowhere in the post season when the physicality ratchets up a couple notches and the reffs swallow the whistles.

Knowing our luck the Hawks will play the first game Thursday, lose, and be the first team out. The tournament will be over for us fans by 1:00 CST.

What fun.

Let's hope not!
Honestly, I'd actually prefer that.

IF they are going to lose their first game - which, very sadly is a very real possibility - I'd rather get it done and over with ASAP.

Hawks deserve to be put in an 8/9 game. Committee would be doing them a huge non-deserved favor to drop them down to a 10.

Honestly do they deserve to be in the NCAA? Last year absolutely but this year
Would like to see them bypass teams with this many losses and give more bids to mid majors with 25+ wins. Iowa, Michigan, Penn St, Wisconsin, and Rutgers don’t belong in the tournament.

Why reward teams that play terrible teams? Shouldn’t schedule strength matter at all
Some of them are actually decent teams and could hold there own against better competition. Teams that run through their conference easily and have a rare off night in their conference tournament get left out. I’d like to see a few of them get a shot instead of a 14 or 15 loss team out of a major conference.

Well that is about two hours earlier than last year. Sure takes the fun out of Thursday night and Friday.

The wide open 3 pointers, especially in the corner, have to stop. Get rid of the ****ing zone, play man, switch on screens and help and drives. It's not that hard. Replay shows a bunch of perpetually confused kids pointing at each other with their backs turned to the corner.
McNeal had one in the corner and Conner just stood there and watched

You want to fire a guy who is about to make fifth consecutive NCAA tourney?
I said there was a long leash for Fran. What part about long leash is unclear?

I've always preferred that Fran would look in the mirror, realize he is the problem, Hire a guy for defense,
coach for defense, recruit for defense, not run the team to maximize McCaffery playing time.

I wouldn't cry if Fran left for Notre Dame. Program would be fine. lots of people would take $3 million/year and some of them might be a Lute Olson and if not, fire and repeat.

Thst 7fter would need to be a 3pt threat because you can't have 2 non shooting players on the court together.

No shit. Fran's refusal to recruit a big, nasty PF like Horton, Evans, or Thomas is one of my biggest frustrations. This ain't Sienna, it's the B1G.

That’s coaching, not the zone. If you’re disciplined and well schooled in the zone, those wide open looks don’t happen.

Those guys would be positionless in todays game and could guard very few players.Basketball has changed. Kris is our PF and is set to be our second 1st round selection in two years when Iowa hasn’t had a 1st rounder since Ricky back in 97. I don’t think recruiting “big nasty PFs” is our problem.

Every damn team in this league has one. Fran's first requisite is shooting the ball; you need a diverse set of talents to win, and rebounding and rim protection will always be needed.

Who's like Reggie Evans or Ed Horton in the big ten?

Playing small at the 4 is the norm now.

We are the best offense in the league and have been conistently over the past five years. Why would we want to change anything we do on that end of the floor?

Connor shoots 33% from three. Kris and Tony both shoot 34%. Peyton shoots 35%. Not as much difference as you might surmise.

35% is decent after how HORRIBLE he started B1G play. Would be interesting to see what his percentage was after he got out of his funk.

He also chucks deep off balance "heat checks" a little too often, which drag down the percentage.

Connors 3 point percentage is what really hurts. He's shooting wide open... Not typically heat check deep 3s... But still at 33%.

He was solid for a big chunk of the season, but for at least the last month he's returned to what he was last year.... should not be getting 30 minutes a game anymore

Connor is a stabilizing force out there when all is chaos. He gets them organized and does not turn it over. He has value but has struggled shooting lately. He does not get outside his lane and shoots sparingly.
