OT: B1G Turnover

Was Brad Underwood fired or did he just resign after just coaching one season at Oklahoma State?

Pardon me for interupting. It won't happen again, and I hope you enjoyed the info on incoming assistants at Illinois. Ignore time. Your threads are all yours.
I'm likely already on ignore for Dan, but for anyone reading, I do appreciate the assistance tracking this movement and relevant tidbits. However, it's frustrating to see a back and forth argument going on in what I consider a news/update thread.

I get that it is hard to walk away from positions that are deeply held beliefs, but lets try to keep threads a bit more on track.

With that said, I haven't found a great source for staff changes, other than head coaches (which are widely reported). Anyone have a good resource for that?

I agree with u...especially when it comes with someone from another school helping the back & forth. I would also suggest that Dan gave U a thumbs up on this same thread prior to the intervention. I tried staying out of it until the we are better than you...again by another school.

So with that I apology for my participation & appreciate the intent of your thread.
Keep it Going.

I took you off ignore. Though I disagree with some of your concerns. 1) Your updates appear on the first post in the thread. 2) This isn't your thread once you post it. 3) The discussion you complained about started with a comment about the loss of Illinois players, and ended (at least from me) with info on the new assistants.

More on #2, I think you could complain all you want to the monitors but the posts were at worst just off subject. And where a thread goes is a natural process. Perhaps you should suggest that those that post be allowed to moderate their own threads...see where that gets you.

I took you off ignore because frankly your posts are usually full of good info and insight. I think I shall just have to get over your notion that somehow you own any threads that you start.

Now, to answer your question. Finding incoming assistants, or personnel leaving, is a bit hard. I go to individual school sites and start plundering what info I can. I checked out Indiana's assistants and almost started a thread but found them to be boring, but full of experience.

Thanks for the info Dan, and fair point about there being some info included with the Illini discussion, I admit, I missed most of it once the back and forth started.

I'll see what I can dig up (especially on teams with head coaching changes) to consolidate.

I've a bad habit of entertaining trolls, might even border on, or be one, myself at times.

There are Indiana's assistants. One does have a John Calipari link...but these days many coaches do and I'm not sure there is smoke as badly with this one as the guy Illinois got.

Thanks for the info. Wagner returning is huge for UM, as is V Edwards for the Boilers.

Realistically, VE is not really an NBA prospect and I'm a Purdue fan that's been one of his biggest fans ever since he stepped into the starting lineup at the beginning of his freshman year. I was hoping he would significantly improve in these areas, but it appears that he probably won't: he doesn't have a quick enough first step, he doesn't have a particularly quick shot-release, his handles are good but not great, and his athleticism is good but not "NBA type" athleticism. He's probably going to be one of those players where you say, "What happened to that guy? He was a really good college player." He'll likely be an overseas guy (nothing wrong with that, it's just not the NBA), like many other former college players. Chris Kramer, Robbie Hummel, and JaJuan Johnson (the latter two having brief stints in the NBA), as examples, are former Boilermakers that continue to play professionally overseas.

and making a NBA team or even getting drafted does not define the impact of said player when it comes to what really counts...playing in college & for your team. Loads of talent out there and only so many spots in the NBA.

I dont know if PJok will get drafted or even play in the NBA. Its certainly brings up some discussion. For him I hope he does ...earns alot of $$$$....it would certainly help his brothers fundraising efforts.

If Jok doesnt make the NBA it does not change the fact that he goes down in Iowa history as one of the best shooters we ever had...and the best free throw shooter ever.

I was not talking about whether Vince Edwards would do well, or even play, in the the NBA. He is not a star, but he is a really good all-round college player, and is very important to the Boiler's success next year IMO. I think he is a much better player than Haas, and probably Purdue's best returning player.

Purdue needs him and Haas to step it up in their final seasons for the Boilers to maintain or eclipse the success they had this past season. Carsen Edwards will also be key. He needs to become more efficient and a better overall decision-maker.

Nojel Eastern and Aaron Wheeler are two incoming freshmen that should provide an upgrade to the team's overall quickness and athleticism (the relative lack of it showed against Kansas in the NCAA's, as well as Painter's rigidity and unwillingness to teach and implement any type of zone defense). They also have a 7'3 Euro-big (Matt Haarms) that enrolled this past spring (will be considered a redshirt freshman) joining the team, but I'm not sure if he will make much of an impact next season.

Obviously, Swanigan's rebounding and ability to pass in and out of the paint will be missed.

Coleman-Lands has done some damage to us the past two years. Glad he is gone (depending on where he "lands", of course).

Wow that Rutgers kid was a space eater that could cause some problems in the middle
