OT: Iowa Baseball Team makes the BT Tourney 1st time

Heller very well could do the same for Iowa Basesall, and a 30 win season with a BTT bid to start off is nothing to sneeze at.

next in line would be a expanded stadium, and updates to the facilities to attract the fans and baseball players to Iowa, not sure how big some of the other stadiums are but Iowa's only holds 3,000 fans and from the ariel photos the ball park playing field is not that big.
I can't imagine that Iowa would put the considerable coin they have into getting FieldTurf on the playing surface (the entire field is supposed to be covered with the stuff before the school year starts) just to pull up stakes and move the whole shebang--at least not in the near future. They could expand the capacity; rumor had it at one time that they may expand the seating by placing aluminum bleachers starting from where the current concrete structure ends and going to the first light fixtures. It would then have a capacity of about 5K. Not bad for a B1G park. In that scenario, they would likely tear down the current concrete grandstand and build a new one, with all regular seats instead of aluminum bleachers. The aforementioned expanded areas would be the only aluminum bleacher seating. That could make it the nicest school-owned park in the B1G (Haymarket Park is big and nice, but U of Nebraska doesn't own it. The Lincoln Saltdogs--a Northern League independent pro franchise--do and they lease it to the Huskers in the spring.

The Big Ten Baseball tourney has been happening for 33 years now. After this year Nebraska has just as many wins as Iowa does in the tourney. It took NU 3 years. Lmao!

And I'm lmao that a nebraska fan is on an iowa football board bragging about his baseball team. Another thing I'm still lmao over is this thanks to Mr Weisman.

cruhawk the beauty of Field tuff is that it can be moved to a new stadium as it is not a permanent fixture like real turf.

my question that nobody has answered just how many do other BT stadiums hold?

there are enough minor league teams in the state to model the new stadium after. I have never been to the one in CR but I have been to the one in Waterloo many times and it even held a farm club for the KC Royals. the Cubs triple A one in DM is to big, but it could serve to model one after in a scaled down manner.

in the end its all about what does Iowa have to offer in the manner of facilities to attract the top players. there have been a number of top Iowa players that have gone else where to play Baseball,

maybe Heller can borrow Shimonek from KF, as a JR he went 5-0 with a no hitter, even TX wanted him as a pitcher he was also the teams SS and a pretty good one at that.

Iowa has fallen behind nearly all other Big Ten teams the last few years. Minnesota finished renovating Siebert Field last spring and Northwestern is in the middle of fundraising for major upgrades to Rocky Miller Park. Likewise, Indiana and Purdue have both built new stadiums in the last few years while Penn State and Nebraska play in professional stadiums. Hopefully Coach Heller can parlay his successful first season into significant facility upgrades.

Husker C would expect nothing less than a Nebraska fan rebuttal from the 90s. Difference play I showed happened 7 months ago to one 15 years ago. To each his own.

thx looks like Iowa's stadium is about the avg size then some how I was under the impression that 6000 was the avg,

it would not take that much to fill it then if Iowa has a few more seasons under Heller in the future. looks like all the sports program are improving under Barta.

raising about 2.5 million dollars to upgrade the facilities related to Baseball would be enough for practice and locker room facilities. and maybe 4-5 million for weight training facilities,

I can't figure out how a fan of school that hasn't made an NCAA Tournament in 24 years thinks they know what does and does not constitute a "baseball school".
I know that a couple year run two or three coaches ago, doesn't qualify Debbie as a baseball school.

Just keep believing!
I know you're not qualified to know what a baseball school is period.

Just keep believing! Maybe sometime this decade, or even this century, Iowa baseball might sniff the NCAAs again.
We have a JUCO in Council Bluffs that is 100x the baseball school Nebby is.

went looking and on HS it shows that Baseball games are played in Sept and Oct, then it starts back up in Feb, it will be interesting to follow this team next spring. to bad the OT Board in premium now. but at least the Mods didn't mind this being posted here as it has now made it to its 3rd page,

even though the nebbie fans keep telling how superior to Iowa and the BT they are in every sport.

Iowa averaged 629 fans this season.

considering the past are you syrprised, I'm not, just look at the BB program under Lick and Alford give it another season like this last one and the fans will support it. this state is sports hungry. 3000 seats is perfect have success for 3-4 years before approaching the public for donations to build a different stadium,

how hard would it be to divert some funds to the Baseball team?

I'm simply disagreeing with your comment that it wouldn't be difficult to average 3,000 fans after a couple more years of success. No Big10 schools averaged that this year. The vast majority didn't average 1,000.

Iowa baseball sucks, so bring a JUCO into the conversation of NCAA Division I baseball, got it. Got any good Little League programs you want to add as well?

Nebraska averaged over 3300 per game.

-----
...last year's attendance figures when Nebraska averaged 2,366 fans per game. This year, through 27 home dates, the average is 3,338 fans per game, a full 33 percent increase.

we are talking about Iowa fans, they are quick to support a program that starts to win, like I keep saying I didn't follow the Hawks in Baseball because it has never really been talked about, this year it is being talked about so I got interested,

who would have thought when I started this thread on March 17th. that it would still be posted in June not me that's for sure,

sorry but losing 20 out 25 season does that to a fan base, Heller is bringing excitement to the team and will energize the fans, just like Fran did in BB. give it a couple years, if Heller makes back to the BTT and has another 30+ win seasons there will be all sorts of excitement around the Baseball team.

after all there was a poster complaining about the losing by the other sports programs at Iowa, that is changing in all the sports programs,

After living in Omaha for six years, (and loving nearly every minute of it, aside from when Husker fans rag on me for being an Iowa fan), I can without a doubt say that Nebraska fans are baseball fans, and thusly make Nebraska a baseball school. I have gone to four or five other teams' home games, depending on if you count neutral site games, and can honestly say that I have never been as into a CBB game like I was at haymarket (right?), except for Creighton. Another Nebraska school.

May 17th. 05/17. March is the 3rd month of the year. May is the 5th month of the year.

You didn't create this current handle until the 24th of April. How could you have started this thread, with the same name, in March?

Having a state host the CWS does not make the instate schools baseball schools.
Simply putting a team on the field doesn't make Iowa or Iowa fan an expert on what qualifies anyone to be a baseball school. Iowa baseball is equal to Iowa State football, probably even worse.

BTW...congrats on putting together just your third winning season since 2000 and just your seventh since your last NCAA appearance in 1990. Heck, you only have roughly 40 winning conference seasons in nearly 110 years of Big Ten baseball. Maybe you will actually reach the NCAA tournament again someday. Maybe.

Keep daydreaming that you even know what you're talking about.

LOL. You are an idiot. College degree from Texas A&M, plus a couple of years in law school and you can't tell the difference between May and March? LOL! You even stated that it said "March 17th" You said it was time stamped with the date March 17th Think about that dumbass. You actually saw those words in your head and posted about it.

As a matter of fact Kilroy, when you were asked if you were sure if you started this thread in March, here is your exact quote: " I know for a FACT I did as it is time and date stamped on the 17th of March". JFC, People label you as our "village idiot". You know why you earn that label?

Wow, that whole "Debbie" thing sure is creative. Let me guess, you are a product of the Iowa Writer's Workshop. Nah, that's not big-time enough for your abilities. You're well above the fray.

Like I said, you're quite the creative fella. Graduate of a community college somewhere in small-town Iowa, right? Oh, BTW, how was that regional your team went to? Last thing I heard of Iowa, they were heading out of Omaha early, after packing their suits with mothballs.
