Pay for Warnock’s dental school for one more year!

More (perhaps circumstantial) news suggesting that Oregon’s recent magic may have had more to do with its Assistant HC than their current HC / program culture.

If Graves underperforms this year (again), his future in Oregon has got to be in doubt. Lots of little things piling up that, tho none of which are really damning, still don’t rly look great for him alongside poor results.

This I think is a major difference between us and Oregon (some other programs who turned out to be flashes in the pan). Their success happened in spite of coaching / culture problems simmering under the surface. Iowa’s recent success had much to do with a positive culture and an experienced, stable coaching staff that players love.

Caitlin Clark and Megan G. are the main reason for our recent success.

You have to have coaches that can not only develop players to their ceiling but that can retain their athletes by building a culture that they believe in. Oregon does not have that, hence their collapse. Iowa does have that. Our road to the final four had little room for our error. Higher roster turnover and/or the regression of key players would have been costly. I don’t think we’d have gotten out of the Sweet 16 or beat MD in the B1G Tourney without Bluder and co not only keeping our supporting cast happy but developing them to their ceilings.

A little late but just to weigh in on the “playing while attending dental school” debate, it would be impossible unless the school worked with her to make an altered schedule and she took more than 4 years to graduate. Dental school is pretty much an 8 to 5 commitment, with studying and lab work to do on top.
