Personal finances of Walz and Vance show stark differences

Nothing wrong with that. But also nothing wrong with a guy who just happened to make a few dollars more by working in a field that pays more than teaching.
Anything else is resentment and envy and class ignorance.

I didn't say anything about Vance's financial success, good for him. The idea that Walz's financial situation hurts him politically just does not compute. Last I checked, something like 40% of Americans don't own any stocks and most who do have them in professionally managed 401ks/IRAs through their employers. What if doing the right thing in a given situation means the stock market will take a hit? Do you want someone with a lot to lose by doing the right thing or someone who can look at the situation in a less self-interested way?

Yes it is. A very good thing. Do you want a POTUS who owns a lot of Raytheon and Boeing deciding we need to invade Venezuela? I think that's an obvious no. Personally I would rather a politician worry more about people who don't own much in the way of stocks/bonds/real estate. Those people have always been looked after first.
agreed on the raytheon thing. it’s certainly pertinent. still he appears to have literally nothing to lose which is something to at least be aware of. i suppose kamala and her hubby have conventional wealth which mitigates any worries. now if kh were also a hermit type i would worry

You MUST know you’re wasting your time here.
Two men who aren’t robber baron rich. Walz has no money but by God he’s an expert in spending other peoples money.
The commies and bots on here are clueless and think anyone who has more than $100 bucks in checking is rich.
Waste of time arguing with them.
I mean, many on here (including Rs) bitch about how we don't want someone bought and paid for by corps and special interests. We finally get a guy who appears to have made it pretty far in politics without that and yet we still bitch.

Hmmm .... I think Walz brings a lot to the table when it comes to understanding the average midwesterner. I bet WAY more than Trump, Harris, or even Vance. I know a LOT of folks his age in similar situations relying mainly on a pension.

Go on Riley, leave no doubt, you think he has a bunch of accounts we don't know about?

Bro I'm 39 and my wife and I worth more than this asshole.

He doesnt have it all figured out.
I mean, we are also worth more than what they stated his net worth is too, but what the hell does that have to do with anything? Also, I bet his pension is understated.

It's not the portfolio I would want, but saying this guy will be destitute seems like a stretch, depending on his spending habits.
Four lifetime pensions that provide an annual income north of 100k would allow them to maintain their lifestyle.

If he does become VP, his 3-year average will get a bump, plus years of service go to 16, increasing the federal pension by a nice chunk.
They seem to be in an okay spot to have been government employees their entire lives.

The biggest issue will be housing unless there is a family home they plan to move into as their forever home.

Plus, he can always write a book or be a speaker or commentator or something like that. When you get to the VP level, there are multiple ways to leverage that for relatively easy revenue streams.

The VP level doesn't even matter. To think someone with his work history, pensions and positions held will have difficulty in retirement is complete nonsense.

Nothing wrong with it - and I’ve not said differently (as you know) but nothing wrong with the career path Vance chose either. Both men are allowed to choose a profession that they are drawn to and they know the risk/reward associated with them from day one.
Posters playing one upsmanship must not understand that.

That's because your ideology precludes you from understanding the possibility that some people want different things in life than readers of self-help garbaj
I didn’t buy or read Vance’s book. Lots of folks didn’t.
Choice is still a good thing.

Or,

“If you feed enough oats to the horse, some will pass through to feed the sparrows."
― John Kenneth Galbraith
If you feed the horse it can drag your plow to help you reap more oats.

Meanwhile the commies in China declared war on the sparrow:

The extermination of sparrows – also known as the smash sparrows campaign[1] (Chinese: ; pinyin: dǎ máquè yùndòng) or the eliminate sparrows campaign (Chinese: 消灭麻雀运动; pinyin: xiāomiè máquè yùndòng) – resulted in severe ecological imbalance, and was one of the causes of the Great Chinese Famine which lasted from 1959 to 1961. In 1960, the campaign against sparrows ended, and bed bugs became an official target.

Harry Truman didn’t have a degree or a high net worth. He did okay.

If the party apparatchiks didn’t bend to the rabble rousers in Dearbornistan let’s be real. Shapiro would have been the choice.
Fat portfolio or not Walz is a huge lefty. He and KH are off the charts lefties.
