Peter Jok: The Iowa basketball team "is going to be a problem next year."

The Hawks have been a real problem for most of the BIG since Fran got here. JBO is the key and needs another big year. I like the potential of this team and this team for years to come.
I actually think Christian Williams is the key to the backcourt. JBo is going to be as good or better than last year, but teams will game plan to make his success more difficult—meaning I worry he'll wear down. Williams needs to be a better and more consistent backup throughout the season for JBo to be himself for the stretch run.

Or someone else needs to step up. My affinity for Garza is getting to the point where I'm ready to let him have some run at the 1 spot.

Personally, I think Moss is the key to our backcourt success this season. I think he is more than adequate on defense, but he has to become a more consistent force on offense. He had seventeen games last season when he scored 5 points or less. If we're going to take that next step, we need more from him.

I'd offer that Ellingson will also be a very important part of the backcourt rotation. First off the bench in the backcourt filling in for both Moss and Bohannon. Lights out shooter at the 2 spot, just needs to be more aggressive and take more.

An adequate backfill at the PG. It's not like he can break down a defender but he doesn't really make many mistakes and can give spot minutes while Bohannon is resting.

17 wins next year.
Heard it here first.

Like, total?

I'm guessing that 17 is on the low side, but could happen if team defense and health of key players (JBO) don't hold up.

Assuming that we take a step forward on defense and have an average year from a health perspective I think we can get 10 wins pre conference and 10 in conference. If health holds up and we come out of the shoot strong (helped by the over seas trip) I am guessing that we could get to 24 regular season wins......but, that's all guessing at this point and a good part of the reason for my interest in the PTL, practices and reports on the trip.

I love being this excited about Hawkeye Basketball!
