I don’t like someone quitting during regular season…but I can’t blame him as the “aw shucks” a bowl game is great and the CFP is “too sexy” fuels this to some degree
Exactly. We could easily become that bad under Kirk.
And comparing programs from 500 years ago to today is pointless. It’s not the same athletic, financial, or anything else landscape.
What people like this are saying i dont care if we ever make the playoffs as long as we dont end up like Nebraska
Which has some pull, but it means both programs are playing for the same thing. Nothing.

Our offense was absolutely not good enough for 10 and 1. That’s what you can comprehend. You can’t see just how bad it was under Brian. It’s improved a lot, and it’s still objectively not good.
I do agree with that, but…there are only about 5 teams right now & maybe not even that, that will keep him from complaining. We know anytime a team losses it’s because of the coaches ineptitude 🤷♂️

We are 7-4. Run game strong, pass game awful. Lester has done an admirable job but we lost to ISU (didn’t step on their throat), OSU (too much talent), MSU (shitshow), and UCLA (Sully’s worst game). Yawn.
Let me help actually….
UCLA….415 total yards/211 rushing and a total let down late.
MSU….468 total/212 rushing and again total collapse late…
ISU…severe coverage breakdowns and 50ish yards in under a minute for game winning FG

Shit ton of TO’s against osu. ISU defense terrible on last drive but offense should have closed that out. MSU largely on D. UCLA mix of both.

Let’s say we win the four we will be favored in. And then we split the toss-up games. I find it highly doubtful an Iowa team wins two games in the underdog category.
That’s why they play the games… will have to visit this next season but I truly Joe somehow or someway we can be better
I should preface this by saying all these projections are if Kirk is still the head coach, which he will be. If it’s someone else the ceiling goes a lot higher.
Well we’d have had to have a better QB, but maybe we would have. However this defense should also have been better than it has been 🤷♂️
I should add, I believe there are people that think that Joe Evans and Cooper DeJean made that much of a difference, but we have had experienced vets that have blown coverages this year Xavier, Quinn, Schulte, etc.🤷♂️

Injuries… and the “human nature” of the game of football.
I had heard very early (August) that many key players were nursing injuries that would allow them to play but “might affect” performance…and at key positions…apparently there was some validity to this talk.
The key to football success anywhere is team health…UIowa is certainly no exception. Fans love to piss and moan and this year’s team is an example of that. Fans bitch about lack of QB mobility and the failure of the dense…yet the teams offense is measurably improved over past seasons offenses.
That’s why I despise them and even so admit that is a useless proposition on my part.
But that’s how much I hate what they do. And they DO NOT like getting it back. They suck the life out of others peoples joy and exacerbate our own frustrations.
