Great here comes the good news bear, quick somebody give him some damn honey.OSU lock boys. We are going 0-fer with these guys.. We will get some guys rated in the #30's to fill the class in.

I have awesome inside information and none of these guys are coming. My inside information is Twitter so......Great here comes the good news bear, quick somebody give him some damn honey.
Angelo is going 165 for Ironman. AJ is a 197. Angelo is a 174 now but will grow into a 184. Getting a 125 or 133 in this class is important. I think they've a good chance getting oneLook, IOWA had better get something!!! Pieces are starting to come together nicely but just like building anything, you better have a plan and some idea what you are trying to do?
IF Ayala is having a tuff time cutting to 125? Obviously the coaches would know this, and you might think a F-in light goes off in their heads and says. "WE NEED TO GET A 125 because Ayala is going 133!!!"
We will need a 141, either we have an AA guy in the room now waiting(?) or we don't!
I would say from 149-184 is very solid, much depends on Triple V3 and Ferrari #2 manning 149 with AA caliber ability!?!?!?
197 or Heavy will greatly rely on AJ. With him, one weight is solid, without him, we would need TWOOOO studs. Assuming he goes and stays at 197? Who in all hell can we get to fill heavy? I have very little faith that Big Ben ever helps us.
Again, the darn coaches should be on top of things which sometimes it does appear that maybe they are missing the boat. For example if AJ is indeed coming? What is the plan? Keep him off the roster till next year, bulk up and fill heavy? Would this be the best plan, and have lil brother maybe move into 197? is any of this even possible?
I am guessing that line up could possible take out F*** st next season!
This is 100% true and something half this board refuses to reckon with. For sure they're. The issue is they won't spend $ they don't have to spend. They can definitely pay less currently because they're winning. Every kid who's 16-18 when they put on wrestling shoes at 5 -7 years old Penn st was winning and they still are it's all the kids know. So that's where all the studs want to go no different then the Gable era
It's just the facts. I know some don't like it but ignoring it won't fix it. The Iowa brand isn't what it once was. The young kids know about 1 team and it's Penn st. And that's always been Iowa and the last 10 years has changed that. So now the battle is uphillThis is 100% true and something half this board refuses to reckon with.
Which is why I've maintained the only way it will change (not including Cael and co. hanging it up) is if Iowa starts to chip away with the elite talent they do land. They need Real, Ayala, Gabe, Angelo, Kueter, etc... to win titles. It won't close the gap immediately, but it shows the kids you can win titles at Iowa. Then things like facilities, NIL, etc... can start making more of an impact. It's just the facts. I know some don't like it but ignoring it won't fix it. The Iowa brand isn't what it once was. we need to change up coaches, not TNT maybe but M* and Telford are dead weight. We are not seeing the development we need from these two. Offensive ability and in match prep is lacking at iowa. I think even Spencer Lee Said they don't make plans before a match they just wrestle..Which is why I've maintained the only way it will change (not including Cael and co. hanging it up) is if Iowa starts to chip away with the elite talent they do land. this got a laugh from @Gobblin so maybe two of these are the "Silent commit" that he was talking about.... once again i Have no inside information that i don't steal from twitterOSU lock boys. We are going 0-fer with these guys.. We will get some guys rated in the #30's to fill the class in.
You do realize we just beat Iowa State with the guys that Star and Telford work with everyday…we need to change up coaches, not TNT maybe but M* and Telford are dead weight. ISU better not be the benchmark to measure......You do realize we just beat Iowa State with the guys that Star and Telford work with everyday…
great question and observationWe are in need of some lightweight mojo. Have we lost our traction with Young Guns?
Just curious
The way things have materialized over the last 3 years makes 2021 hurt worse every year. I don’t know what would’ve happened, however, it sure was teed up as Iowa coming back as a name to be reckoned with. Iowa was favored and the venue would have had at least 35-40 thousand rabid Hawk fans on display….Damn it.Which is why I've maintained the only way it will change (not including Cael and co. hanging it up) is if Iowa starts to chip away with the elite talent they do land. The above scenario may have hurt the connection?great question and observation
Yeah just like Bouzakis was gonna transfer in too…..great insiderthis got a laugh from @Gobblin so maybe two of these are the "Silent commit" that he was talking about.... once again i Have no inside information that i don't steal from twitter
wow one guy who was going to transfer but didn't... don't follow along if yo don't think he knows anything.Yeah just like Bouzakis was gonna transfer in too…..great insider
PSU for sure pays more but lets not act like they don't develop the shit out of their athletes alsowhy don't we just PAY our recruits hundreds of thousands of NIL dollars to wrestle for us...we could be the New York Yankees of wrestling and buy the best of the best and they wouldn't even need coached up.... damn!!! seems like that idea has already been taken
I couldn't agree more. That's why it stings so much worse when Marinelli fell so short at every NCAA, Kemmerer's finals loss, Woods' finals loss.Which is why I've maintained the only way it will change (not including Cael and co. hanging it up) is if Iowa starts to chip away with the elite talent they do land. They fine tune them, and come up with some good individual match strategies when needed, but none of their top 10 pfp recruits needs to have the shit developed out of them. If they were that good at development, some of their lesser recruits would have surpassed a few of the higher ranked guys. I would say the NDST coaches developed the shit out of Franek and Caliendo, considering their ranking coming out of high school was inferior to Riggins and Blocks ranking.PSU for sure pays more but lets not act like they don't develop the shit out of their athletes also

Yes but it is ALL about the ODDS that the great Kralure enjoys. When you bring in 3,4,5Xs the recruits of any other team. You only need to hit 1 out of 3-5 and that is what they have done. Heavy didn't work out??? Recruit over him. Missed with your 165? Go get another. They fine tune them, and come up with some good individual match strategies when needed, but none of their top 10 pfp recruits needs to have the shit developed out of them. Your right. We wring our hands about maybe not being able to fit all our best 165-174 guys in the lineup the next few years, but they have that situation at many weights every year, but don’t care and kick them to the curb. They can stay and be a room guy or not let the door hit them in the ass. Beard with them was like us with PK. A big recruit who patiently waited for a few years to get a shot to start, and he actually AA’d his one year in their line up. The next year Cael recruited over him with a transfer, and didn’t give a crap about finding another spot for him, even though he was very loyal to Cael and took every type of shirt they wanted him to. We as Iowa fans have loyalty to guys like PK, unless they are a complete bust. The coaches and us fans have to be more like PSU and be willing to kick anyone’s ass to the curb each year.Yes but it is ALL about the ODDS that the great Kralure enjoys. 125 not working? Bring in DOZENS of kids, still not working, but sooner or later they will hit again.
Our 165-174 dilemma is the first time this situation has come up in a long time.Your right. This post won't age well. You realize PK was just over recruited just like Beard, right? He lost his weight class to a transfer and won't even be able to wrestle up if Arnold come back down to 174 like he says.Your right. Did you not read? He literally mentions that at the very beginning of his post. His point was how RARE that is at Iowa compared to PSU…This post won't age well. Thank you!!! We need to start doing it though. It happens in every sport at the great teams.Did you not read? He literally mentions that at the very beginning of his post. His point was how RARE that is at Iowa compared to PSU…
That’s why I said Beard with PSU is like PK with us. Our fan base seem very loyal to PK, especially since he waited a few years behind Marrinelli after being a top 10 recruit. Not sure if PSU fans gave a shit about Beard. This post won't age well. You realize PK was just over recruited just like Beard, right? Also a little different because PK was caught up in the gambling BS so the coaches did not know what was going to happen? Not saying they wouldn't bring kid in, but guessing a lot less likely if PK , Brands , and company do not have that issue. This post won't age well. You realize PK was just over recruited just like Beard, right? He lost his weight class to a transfer and won't even be able to wrestle up if Arnold come back down to 174 like he says.

For us to catch up will take guys like you mentioned and Riggins and Block, that aren't just good Iowa HS recruits, but Fargo champions, bona fide must get recruits that need to produce.
Overrecruiting is good. Iowa should do more of it. Can't believe we're still debating this.
Was Beard part of an investigation like PK? Brands stated they found out back in May and then went out and recruited some awesome transfers. That they didn’t quit and just hope for the best. That’s why I said Beard with PSU is like PK with us. When "loyalty" means turning down better wrestlers who want to wrestle for you because you already have someone, that makes you a bad coach. Was Beard part of an investigation like PK? Brands stated they found out back in May and then went out and recruited some awesome transfers. That they didn’t quit and just hope for the best.
FT comparing the situations and even the two coaches is comical. There’s absolutely no loyalty whatsoever with Cael. Starting with bolting his alma mater that left them in shambles. And just a year ago he brings in a nemesis in Dake instead of focusing on his guy in Nolf to bring Dake down. Nolf is a top freaking contender that has given so much to that program.
I’m sure Cael has a lot of good qualities but loyalty is not one of them. Far from it.
That is how PSU got where they are in wrestling and Alabama in football.Overrecruiting is good. Iowa should do more of it. Can't believe we're still debating this.
....well, we did just land a kid who was a state medalist from Colorado who's a hard worker so we do have that going for us.How many elite recruits for Iowa in 2025?
Assuming we're talking top 10 p4p, Iowa has 8 in the last 12 years, thru 2023. Without knowing anything about specific recruits, my guess is Iowa gets 1 ... and that's rounding up.
In 2024, Iowa adds another elite guy #2 Ferrari ... one guy in the top 15.
Meanwhile, in 2024, PSU adds #1 Lilledahl, #5 Ryder, #6 Sealey, plus a few "laggards" in #11 Mirasola and #14 Gibson - 5 guys in the top 15.
Need two of these….at least imo.Torres -> Virginia Tech
DeLuca/Blaze/Henckel/Lockett still on the board.
100% agree.Need two of these….at least imo.
don’t care and kick them to the curb
Nobody was "kicked to the curb." Michael Beard entered the portal, because he felt that gave him the best chance to achieve his goals. He'd still be at PSU, if that was his preference. The coaches and us fans have to be more like PSU and be willing to kick anyone’s ass to the curb each year.
