They talked about Blaze yesterday on FRL. Main point was that he wants to stay close to home and that he trains at Ohio RTC. Seems to me that Michigan and tOSU would be the pick if he wanted to stay close. Then again Hall wanted to stay in the Midwest.

You mean to tell me the PSU is not in the midwest? The midwest comprises 83% of the country and by using similar math - 83% of the country is close to home for Marcus Blaze.

He may as well release a new list with us eliminated so we can stop day dreaming. tOSU is the team to beat, with PSU next, because they are PSU , then Michigan because of proximity. Cornell may still be in play just because of the Ivy League education. I think the only big name recruits we have a shot at are Bo, Ross, and the Raney twins. All Bo had to say about our home visit is the flew in, had the meeting, and were back in Iowa running practice in the afternoon. All the other visits he had something good to say about them, especially Iowa state.

I do not think I would put any weight what so ever into the small quotes he had about each visit.
He did say Iowa St checks all his boxes and he less explicit on the other comments, but I felt his short comment about Iowa is positive especially in his world. Great visit and the Iowa got back to work!

I don't know about anyone else but this year's recruiting process reminds me of being a kid before Christmas... I made up an unrealistic wish list and busted my ass to work hard and do the right things so I would be rewarded....and then On Christmas morning , despite all of the worrying I only got a few of the items I wanted and ended up settling for WAY TOO MANY CLOTHES... stuff I could use but not the main items on my list. We need to score a couple of those big ticket items...aka Big time Recruits

this year? It's most years for me.

Throw a personal pilot in the NIL offer so he can go back and forth each day.

Where would Blaze fit in at PSU? They have Lilendahl and Davis. Only thing is if we be could make it up to 141. But I am assuming there are probably 2 guys on the team they have waiting for Bartlett to be done.

Yeah. So you would be wrong.

Right now, PSU has no "big" guy at 141 after Bartlett.

It's assumed that either Davis or Nagao will move up - but if you get blaze, he's going wherever he wants. Whether that's 133 or 141.

what about that kid Dalton Perry, Didnt he commit when he was like 10 years old?

Perry ain't a big recruit. But he is a top 100 recruit. Crazy that I forgot about him. I hate PSU.

Sorry vhs. Honestly, I forgot Perry as well and he is from my high school lol.

Truth is that 141 and 149 are need weights at PSU in the relative near term. That's why Cael is all out on Blaze, Bo, and jax

Wish we had a shot at Blaze but we don’t. Wish we had a shot at Jax but we don’t. We are definitely on Bassett and Raney twins radar. Ross is ours to lose. Kid I want more than anybody is Miller(157 sophomore) kid is a monster. Basset is 2nd on my wish list behind Miller but what I would give to land both.

Whoever gets Bassett is getting Miller - they're brothers.

Mendez and Bouzakis would be tough to beat out in folkstyle
The guy just made it all the way to the WTT finals beating a 4x NCAA Finalist and giving Vito 2 really close matches. Even if he had to redshirt his first year there, I am beyond confident there would be a spot for him for 4 years there and I think very highly of both guys you listed.

Keep getting transfers like the Caliendo, Desanto, Woods, and Lugos of the world with multiple years and I think we’ll be alright. Still would like to see our recruiting improve though.
Why have we been so much more successful recruiting transfers than high school kids the last few years ????

Good question. The transfers have all been guys who found success at the D-1 level already and saw Iowa as a step up the ladder. The high school kids have a lot more uncertainty due to the fact that people grow/change a lot while transitioning to college. Some decide college isn’t for them or get burned out. Some just don’t pan out, for whatever reason. Those things seem to happen to Iowa fairly frequently.

Were getting an official visit from Jax according to PA Power.

It’s a real stretch to land him I imagine, but if they somehow could, he’s a program changer. He’s obviously super talented and would compete for a national title right away, but he doesn’t wrestle “Iowa style” in the slightest. He’s like a lightweight Chiapparelli. He could definitely entice other stud kids to come here going forward. Very exciting to watch. Went toe to toe with ADS and didn’t crumble under the pressure. Very impressive.

I’m not sure I agree that he doesn’t wrestle Iowa style. He went toe to toe with Desanto and was pretty chippy at times. Pretty Iowa style to me.

I was more referring to the skill set he employs and less about his mentality. He goes with a lot of funk and gets himself into some weird positions. Not entirely different from Eirman.

One thing I took away from what Bo said is one of his goals is to go to a school where he can change a program. If he means what he says, that’s not PSU. He’s just another cog in the National Champion wheel there. If he wants to change a program he’d have to go somewhere that is competing with PSU and help that program overtake them. Obviously, I hope it’s Iowa (although not likely) Both Jax and Bo seem like great kids that would be easy to root for.

Look I will be surprised if he stays In Pennsylvania. I honestly think Cornell and the Cowboys are the front runners. But Cornell has 2 recent 4 timers. Iowa has a shot along with fosu and Iowa State.
