Not Confuscius, Wiliie, but I get it. It isn't really about the new wrestling facility. What you're seeing is collective frustration. It's just another way to b*tch about the awful season and pile on about TnT's supposed shortcomings. When stupid sh*t covers your glasses, the whole world looks like sh*t. Add to this the 100pt loss at Nationals, no Spencer-class blue chippers in the pipeline, the gambling fiasco, serious NIL money permanently altering the sport, the crazy transfer portal, and other teams fan's professed desire to "poke the bear" on this board, entitled Hawk fans become downright combustible.feel free to chime in whenever, Confuscius.
Looking at this rationally, the new facility looks fine to me. It's sort of sunk into the ground, isn't it? Hard to have windows in a canyon. Windows other than skylights might be a distraction anyway. At the end of the day, it's new, it's big, it's plush, and it's connected to Carver Hawkeye. What else matters? No one is going to win an architecture prize for designing wrestling rooms, and design prizes are notoriously political anyway.
The donors have made a major committment. The fans are committed. (Okay, maybe a few of them on this board should BE committed . . . ) We're all left wondering how the team and the coaches will respond next season. This last year was supposed to be the "rebuilding" year, wasn't it? What was rebuilt? It's not a good sign when a coach's son and other starters fumble a season for NCAA gambling violations, or when they entertain the idea of adding a deviant castoff from a rival team.
There are no quick fixes or Hail Marys for this. It has to be rebuilt brick by brick. If the current staff can do that, great. If not, then expect more seemingly-irrational grumbling until (as Tom Brands says) we "right the wrong."
