No top talent, or a big enough collection of top talent seems to want to stay committed and see if they could help win championships at Iowa right now, in just about every sport. You look at the defections in football, and even basketball has missed on some potential big names, and now Teasdale and the whole issue of having to change our recruiting strategy to ever get back to competing with Penn State and not let them become the UConn women of college wrestling.

It's honestly just an Iowa thing. Kids, and possibly (probably) their parents and other adult figures in their lives just don't want to see them go to Iowa and maybe build a title contender in sport and when they could just keep the green pastures at the big schools as green as possible for years to come with no f***ing end in sight.

It's f***ing garbage, but that's the facts.

And until the leftover talent that Iowa has and will continue to get, along with whatever coaching staff it is, pulls their heads out of their arses and starts massively over achieving again for multiple years in a row......and other mid tier teams stop trying to get in our way because they think we're some kind of f***ing stepping stone or proving point to make a name for themselves (Northwestern, you f***ing a**hole goons), things are going to remain the same into the foreseeable future.

Deal with it.

Iowa has been doing an excellent job of bringing in Pennsylvania recruits
lately. They beat PSU for Lee and Kemmerer has a good chance to win
a national title after Nolf graduates just to mention a few. There is certainly
no shame in losing a Pennsylvania kid to PSU especially one who was
probably a priority for the PSU staff. The part that sucks for you is that he
made a verbal commitment before he was ready.

To me, verbal commitments from sophomores are worth less than used toilet paper. Even when PSU gets those types of commits, I cheer but hold my breath for a year or more until signing day.

Fact is, until they sign they aren't really commits, just close friends of the program.

Yeah - how about the freakin Micah Parsons drama.

Exactly. Same thing I said when Teasdale 'committed' to Iowa. Up until the NLI is signed, you are still dating ...

Not sure if Iowa beat PSU for Lee and Kemmerer. Psu can't land them all. Only 1 spot per weight class Kemdog had no spot in the lineup. You can't land them all. PSU is going to lose wrestlers because of their roster. GoHawks is right..PSU is top dog. Now teams are looking to claw past Iowa to get closer to the Nittany Lions.

As a person who lives in Pennsylvania the recruits who go to PSU are expected to do so...the good ones that get away are frowned upon but guys like Kem and Young will eventually be supported by all because they are after all....GREAT KIDS. I was never firm on Teasdale from the start honestly and had the same feeling when Hall mentioned Iowa...ya just sorta felt he was playing the game. I see PSU get tons of huge football recruits a every year...but a lot of them fizzle or drop out and in today's paper there was a list of about 4 top notch guys that "retired from football" which made me laugh... i mean they were never employed....were they???? and losing a recruit to a team that is loaded will never be the end of a program...I see people calling for an end to TNT....how does that help?? do you have anybody lined up who is ready to step in and land more or better recruits than them?? we just need to refocus and keep moving forward....PS...If i was a young recruit in that Iowa room now...i would be PISSED OFF at being called a "leftover" and that would be a HUGE motivator for me....and don't worry PSU men's basketball is HORRIBLE so maybe they start spending some of that supposed extra slush money on getting it to be competitive in the Big 10...

New plan.
Terry stays on as head coach at Iowa. Tom takes the Pitt job, builds up an elite class than returns to Iowa along with his elite recruits and takes over as HC and Terry as associate.
