Recruiting

Pre-season accolades??? wow preseason #2. Can't wait to see what great recruits that brings in.... How many championships have the transfers brought us in the past??? Go ahead and answer why Iowa is still the most hated team in the country??

yes i absolutely make very stupid posts out of anger but you pretending we are relevant because of pre season rankings and getting grad transfer AA's is ****ing laughable and equals you to Nebraska football fans.

(edited 5 min after posting: Im leaving this up so i dont forget how dumb I can be) More pissed off at Iowa football and taking it out in very stupid ways....Roast away)

You seem to be debating a completely different point here, dare I say a goalpost move. How can a program be well thought of enough to be ranked #2 in the country in the preseason yet also be "barely relevant"? That makes absolutely no sense. By your definition there's only 1 relevant program in all of college wrestling.

I did enjoy your edit. Good work.

Yeah I pretty much knew right away I was wrong but my ego finished the post...

okay ...every time i open this site I wait to see if the topics are HIGHLIGHTED and I hope someone drops the word that we actually SIGNED one of these top recruits. Instead I see the bold letters and open it up to see people just catfighting and having a pissing contest then it turns into a battle of insults and nastiness. I for one am READY for the season to get started and we can talk wrestling and serious recruiting instead of this nonsense. If you aren't part of the solution then you are probably part of the problem.

No claims he’s not going to have a decision until well into the spring. Jax is Taylor’s to lose, so he won’t commit anyplace before visiting Oklahoma State. Not sure when his visit is there, but it seems like Taylor’s huge ego is making the top guys chase him, not him chasing them. Ross is probably going to have a hard time deciding football, wrestling, or trying both. I think Iowa State has been his only wrestling visit, but I’m sure he’ll visit other big programs and see if they would be interested in him for football also. The kid from Wisconsin just committed elsewhere, so I’m sure he won’t be here. Dr. Disciplined kid is visiting, not highly ranked yet at 170. They are good friends of the Ferrari family, so if a program like Iowa gives him a chance, he may commit. Bo and Jax buddy is coming, would be nice to get an early commitment, but he’s probably seeing were they end up and see if that team or teams would give him a shot. I’m sure they would if it helped seal the deal.

Ross has visited OSU, tOSU, N. Illinois, and Oklahoma as well.

Thanks, didn’t realize he’s been so active. Bo mentioned more than once he wants to take another visit during the wrestling season at a select number of programs. I hope we make that list, because I’m sure that will be the programs he’s seriously considering.

Is Dr. Disciplined kid Paolo Ciatto? He is the head scratching recruit coming in? Not sure he is a big ten wrestler and ready for this level. That's a interesting one.

Who did Haakon Peterson commit to?

Who the hell is Dr. Discipline(d)?

Signing day for them isn't for over a year so you can relax for a while.

Yes it is. This surprised me also. Has to be the Ferrari connection. We do need to rebuild our room depth, but his likely weight will have Gabe and Angelo covering those weights for a while.

You can’t be confused, you’re the smartest guy on this board. You remind us by constantly nitpicking and correcting every tiny mistake someone makes. Those of us who are married have wives to do that😉

Dude, I get it. But I'm not effing with you. Google turns up nothing.

Now that’s a lot of pics. Since you opened up this can of worms, yours first.

New rules dictate max program size of 30 wrestlers. Initiates next season I think. Not sure why this was decided but maybe the thought was to reduce rosters to make the unlimited scholarships more achievable (it won’t be for most/any schools).
PSU is considering a nominal yearly seat license fee of sorts to help fund the extra scholarships. Like $50.

So for Iowa, if you have a 13,000 seat arena, that is $650,000 every year. In a 4 year cycle, that's $2.6M. Easily enough to fund the extra 20.1 scholarships and then some. I'm sure not all that new revenue source will go to wrestling, but a good chunk will.

So this gets added to the price of season tickets?

Yea I know that. I meant elaborate more on how team can get creative.

Spitballing, but could see more college kids joining only the RTC clubs initially. They would be full-time students and participate with the team(whatever rules allow for RTCs) but not part of the wrestling roster and won't count against the 30 cap.

They could then be "on stand by"(for lack of a better word) for a spot on the college team in situations like a commit flipping last minute, transfer outs, coaches not landing as many new recruits/transfer ins as expected, etc. that then lead to the team having open spots available.
