I thought OP’s post was a bit OTP but damn, it has been reported that the Sky have cleared her to continue to play; that she has been given “an option” to play through the pain.
In other words, the Sky does not consider Reese’s injury to be season ending according to accepted medical standards.
The Sky are fighting for a playoff spot so it’s real hard not to conclude that she is taking the easy way out for selfish reasons.
I don't think she should necessarily be criticized for taking care of her wrist, but I don't doubt that it is possible for her to have played with the pain either. I heard her describe the injury as a crack in a bone that doesn't get much blood flow for healing. From experience with one of my sons, that sounds like a scaphoid fracture. My oldest son hurt his wrist on a fall in a basketball game and we thought it was just a sprain. He played for two more months with pain before we discovered he had a scaphoid fracture after his season was over and he fell a few more times snowboarding. It would not heal without surgery, which is what AR said so it makes sense to me that it is probably her scaphoid. It doesn't seem like an injury that you can't play through the pain with if you really wanted to, but it is not necessarily bad for her to want to take care of her body either.
