Some of these guys are more concerned with winning titles than being a "starter."
You aren't winning a title riding the pine. I guess if you feel you aren't good enough to be a "starter" and win a title your first few years, and you need to work to get to champion level, then ok waiting a few years and working to be a champion. So many of the really developed hs wrestlers these days have aspirations and goals of going right away and winning right away. Maybe unrealistically for some. But certainly not for others.

Barraclough left after his senior year. He stayed a full year AFTER losing 157 to Levi. I spoke with him at length at Olympic Trials. He had nothing but great things to say about his time in the Penn State room. I don’t think Davis and Ryder are going anywhere at this time. Davis still has a RS which he could use. Ryder isn’t backing down to anyone. He’ll fight for a spot in the starting line-up as will Welsh. Both are competitors. Both think they can win the spot. We’ll see. Competition is good. If you’re a wrestler looking for a guaranteed spot on the mat the Penn State room is not the room for you. If you’re a wrestler want to develop your skills by rolling on a daily basis with the best of the best, the Penn State room is clearly the room of choice.
Sticking with this still or is the denial wearing off a bit?
