Rumors of Iowa vs. Notre Dame

ISU went 3-9 last year and most of the fan base wanted Rhoads fired, you expected them to sell out games? I think the number of season ticket renewals last year was pretty impressive considering the direction of the program but you're not going to sell much outside of that if you suck

Pollard took on tens of millions of debt in adding the Suck it South End Zone so I expect that isu grads buy up all the premium seats in order for the Iowa taxpayer not to be at risk.

Let us know when isu grads pull their own weight.

In 2014 Iowa State was the only sellout game for Iowa, does that mean it was the most important game of the entire season for Hawkeye fans?

Already been asked and answered.

To take that one game out of all the games Iowa has played (and sold out) over the Fry and Ferentz years and state that 'attendance has zero to do with determining the importance of games' is asinine.

Bottom line, Iowa fans have supported the Hawks well throughout the years - some good, some not so good. The same cannot be said for isu.

Back on topic, Iowa fans would support in very good numbers of attendees a game featuring Notre Dame.

I don't remember anyone answering it and saying it was the biggest game for the fans that year

I answered it for you. And against better judgment, gave you a very lengthy, in-depth response that should have satisfactorily ended the discussion. But here you are again in pursuit of another hijacking effort on a thread that is supposed to be about a potential Notre Dame vs. Iowa match up.

You're act is getting old. Seriously, I'm losing my sense of humor about this. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the actual topic of this thread, please do ALL of us a favor and kick rocks.

I'm not trying to make this old and you did answer the question but when other posters keep bringing up attendance as a reason why this game means so much to Iowa State fans I'm going to bring up the facts. Maybe you should go after them instead of me because they're the ones talking about sellouts in Jack Trice Stadium, not me

Playing Notre Dame in Chicago would be ideal. Great following for both teams in the area. Is there any other Cities better suited for this game?
Chicago would be the best fit for both teams.

However, the complaint from the ND side is that they just played Miami there a few years ago.....even though, what, the earliest we'd play is in 2019?

Indianapolis, Kansas City and even Minneapolis with the Vikings new stadium are good possibilities.

Someone also suggested Detroit or a Cincinnati/Cleveland raid to push our brands into the enemy territories of UM/MSU and OSU....

IF you are going to play ND do a home and home best fit in my estimation.

The ND schedule has an opening in 2018. They currently have 6 home games on their schedule and would be looking to fill the neutral site slot. That is the rumor I have heard regarding Iowa vs. Notre Dame. I also have heard it might be at Lambeau for whatever that's worth.

Here is the ND schedule as it stands right now in 2018:

S01 MICHIGAN
S08 BALL STATE
S22 SYRACUSE
S29 STANFORD
O13 @ Virginia Tech
O20 PITTSBURGH
O27 @ Navy (San Diego)
N03 @ Northwestern
N10 FLORIDA STATE
N17 @ Wake Forest
N24 @ Southern Cal
1 games TBD

Where is this rumor coming from? Just message board posters?

Have some bad memories of ND and Iowa going back to when they use to beat Iowa 56-10. With ND's current contract with the ACC and Ferentz's reluctance to play a quality non-conference team, can't see it happening anytime soon. If anything much rather Iowa play an SEC team. The Arkansas Razorbacks would be high on my list.

I know a few people in the Wisconsin athletic dept and it sounds like theyre trying to work something with ND, they made it sound like it was very close to a done deal. Who knows

When the corncobbers (aka bugeaters) in the mighty big 8/12 didn't isu sell those games out?

Would absolutely love to see this happen for many reasons most personal ;) Put the smackdown on the Irish lol.

Barry seems to have always made the right decision to elevate their program. I've got to hand it to the guy.

True Barry like Snyder have done great job of turning programs around. I think Barry's one flaw is it still seems like he likes to the #1 figure head with football program even though not coach anymore. Sounded like Bielema when he left that was a factor plus trying to follow in his footsteps it would never be good enough and he needs to pay his coaches little better to keep them from leaving.

Bret needed that guidance initially, but it definitely wore on him as he gained more experience. Barry never really backed off during Bret's time at Wisconsin.

Not to mention his replacement lasted 2 years to go to Oregon State.
