If I'm the AD, I immediately state that Brian's contract will not be renewed. This allows Kirk time to make the decision on what is best for him. This season could still lead to a west championship, and no AD would risk that.

I cannot remember an AD taking over the hiring of coordinators. It really is the problem of the general offensive side of the ball. I think early on with Morgan and even O'keefe, Kirk could do his thing, but now I don't know the answer.

Back on topic, the only issue with Grubb would be his recruiting. I am certainly not wowed by it looking at his 247 profile. I would still rather go for Jonathan Smith if this is the direction.

The comment was made to generally ask why he is getting rid of Barnes and point out that recent hires have not been all bad. Barnett, Copeland, and Brian could all be pointed to as failure.
He’s new to Washington and Fresno isn’t as easy to recruit too. Besides, I trust he will bring in or promote the right guys. I could see Phil staying or leaving, but Levar and Ladell, they will stay. Want to bring in Texas kids? Go add Drew Tate as QB coach.
So I will ask the question, how much of his success is having Penix? Or alternatively, how much of Penix's success is from Grubb. I would possibly think he could be the QB coach.
Well, we saw Penix at Indiana, he’s older and better now, but Grubb is a factor. You think he would only be good enough to be a QB coach
