I've seen a lot of chatter from NBA circles about him. I've certainly seen Iowa players leave with far less talk than he is getting and still be moderately successful doing so (even when I didn't think they would). What are the chances he comes back for next season? Because if he does come back for next season, Iowa is going to be really, really good next year.

I don't think he is quite there yet to get drafted ... but he is close. I still question if he has the foot speed to make it in the NBA as a 2 or 3 but I hope he proves me wrong. Most likely scenario would be 2-3 years in the G league and then possibly develop in to a NBA 3-point specialist.

I think he could get drafted because he has an enormous upside and is still developing. But I don't think he goes yet. He is an Iowa kid, gets to play with his brother, seems to really enjoy being a part of the team, and if he is good enough to get drafted now he is surely good enough to get drafted with another year of development.

Is it worth going if you are a late 2nd round pick?
No, but maybe the “chatter” is being stated to help the kid net some NIL money. Only reason he goes pro is if Fran retires would be my thought.

Sure quick release but he needs to be shooting nearly 40% to make up for disadvantages on defense. He also would rank pretty low to other professionals when it comes to ability to finish at the rim. I don’t see anything online on mock drafts.

AJ green has done well. But he shot nearly 42%.

"They" create NBA chatter to entice players from Iowa to leave early in order to try to keep Iowa down so we have to constantly rebuild, which is not conducive (for a program like Iowa) to win championships....................
I can't believe I didn't see this earlier! It's so clear now! I'm on board with this conspiracy theory now.

I think he has more upside than Weiskamp had. I just never saw NBA in Joe. Meaning longevity in that league.

There aren't very many guys in the league anymore that can't play defense.

You don't see many Korvers or Jj Redicks getting drafted anymore.

Judging from the All-Star game there isn't anyone in the league that even bothers to play defense.

I'd like to see Sandfort go so we can continue this carousel of mediocre suckage constantly struggling to make the tournament with the mostlt white-washed rag tag groups of recycled cast-asides that we both willingly and begrudgingly bring in each year.

Can't have nice things. :)

So yeah, gtfo Peyton. Go "make your money". :D

Maybe if he can get into the 1st round, don't think he should leave otherwise. The NBA is such a different kind of basketball unless you are uber athletic it is a tough place to get minutes. Luka, Weiscamp, Utoff and even Jack Nunge were guys of egual athleticism or more than Sandfort. He is a better passer than Weiscamp with a quicker release but is comparable in his ability to create his own shot, defense and get to the hoop. I just don't see it personally.
