Should Lauren Hill get the Ashe Award for Courage over Jenner?

Are you really claiming this surprised no one?
He's been dabbling in looking like a woman for years now. Try and read your study material, instead of taking back video tapes and getting mad at people for having better business cards Patrick.

LOL at everyone getting all uppity over the ESPYs. People actually watch them? LOL at the posters who are going to boycott the ESPYs. Talk about drama queens. ESPN doesn't care how courageous Hill was, she's dead and sadly most of America has forgotten about her. Jenner is a big story right now so giving him the award is nothing but a ratings grab. They want women tuning in to watch Caitlyn get her award. Most of those women will see Hill getting the award and will tune into a rerun of Grey's Anatomy. It's all a rating grab.

I agree with everyone in this thread. Jenner, Galloway, and Hill all showed acts of courage but it doesn't matter who deserves the award because Jenner will draw the highest ratings and that's who ESPN has chosen because they own the award show.

It is a big deal though, and you just explained why. Kudos.

I disagree, there is nothing dick like about arguing a courage award should be about performing a couragious act. I don't think living is a couragious act. You set the bar ridiculously low.

Such bullshit.
once again........ Where was Ashe's, "choice"? His choice was to face his deadly illness and live each day to it's fullest knowing he was not going to survive.
Hill...all she did was "live" right? What do you call it when someone who is nearly incapacitated physically and in intense pain, getting out on the court one last time, knowing she had only days left to live? She made that CHOICE to do it one more time. Bruce Jenner's "courage" is to face public opinion....much of which is already favorable. That's not courage. It's seeking acceptance thru attention.

you've painted yourself into a corner on this one. Just admit that you were wrong. These people didn't merely "live". Just living is confining yourself to your house, never leaving and just existing while your disease eats away at your being.

Funny that in your opinion....even Arthur Ashe wouldn't be deserving of the award named after him.

So, are you claiming it wasn't a surprise?
Not to those who were paying attention, no. Did this come as SHOCKING to you? Because it didn't to a lot of other people. I've seen enough MEMEs on facebook of him BEFORE this happened to not be surprised by this Patrick.

Why that avatar Iowa? Why Patrick Bateman?

It's not a big deal. It gives us something to argue over like everything else. I'm going to ask this question. Do you think Hill would care that she didn't get the award? If she did get the award are people going to start giving more to her foundation? Jenner is an attention whore who pulls ratings. Hill doesn't seem like that and probably wouldn't want the award anyways. She's raised over 4.5 million dollars in new cancer research alone.

It's a big deal because ESPN is going after ratings? Be honest, you don't really care who wins the award. All you really care about is continuing to hate Bruce Jenner because he's transgender now. You said yourself how disgusting you found it. You only use Hill as some sort of crutch for your hatred of Jenner. That's far more disgusting that ESPN snubbing Hill for the award in my opinion.

Natural, I love you, but I've never seen a person kick their own ass as thoroughly as you have in this thread.

Oh yeah I definitely don't like Jenner at all. I think he's a prime example of what's wrong with America these days. Doesn't mean I want bad things to happen to him though. But it's the point of the award, of the supposed heroism that makes me angry about it. It's just the lack of morality behind the whole situation and it's a glaring example of what is wrong with people these days. They'd pick a guys transformation, as being more courageous than a girl facing death and doing it with dignity. But I don't HATE Jenner, I just don't like him. There is a difference Fred. We know the award is BS, but we also know that just sitting there and saying 'okay', is even more BS.

So you can play overly PC, compassionate all you want, but you're just to afraid to admit your dislikes. Look at your take on religion, and 'wingnuts', and such. Look how much hostility you've displayed. Do I believe you're some fiendish criminal because of it? No. It's just typical, I must stay in my PC bubble nonsense, and I'm sorry, but you're not going to convince me i'm a 'bad' person because of it.

Again, you make my points for me.

He better not do this to himself as my wingman. I'm never going to fly the skies for chics with him again if he does.

Anybody willing to agree with Aegon on this, that it wasn't a surprise?

It seems according to his definitions, Hills cancer wasn't a surprise, he'll we've known for awhile.

It must be great to live in a world where you think whatever you say is right and whatever anyone else says is wrong. You've constantly declared yourself the winner of this argument because in your mind you think you've won something. In reality you'll soon realize that your opinion like others in this thread is nothing more than just that, an opinon. I could find you many examples of why Jenner should win the award. I could find you many examples why Hill should win the award. Same could be said for Galloway, Stuart Scott, Jim Kelley, Amy Van Dyken-Rouen, etc, etc, etc. But you don't really care who gets the award. All you want to do is make sure that everyone knows that you don't like Bruce Jenner because he chose to do something that you can't comprehend and you're using Hill (which I'm sure you don't really give a shit about) as your crutch to continue to drag down Jenner.

I don't need to try to convince you, you are a bad person. People will form their own opinions of you from their time with you in real life or on here. Be who you want to be. I do find it ironic that you are so hell bent on being the person you want to be but want to shit all over Jenner because he made a decision that doesn't involve you in any way unless you let it involve you. Please continue to think that you are somehow superior to those that live in the so-called "PC Bubble" because you "tell it like it is" but you need to understand that not everyone is going to think your some great guy because you decided to be an asshole for 95% of your existence. Just like not everyone is going to agree that was Jenner is doing is courageous although some will.

You're welcome for the education you received from this post. Hopefully it will make you a better person (not saying you're bad, but everyone can be better).

Some of you might not realize that the ESPY's are moving over to ABC this year. If you don't think ratings and the curiosity factor of this haven't led to this decision to honor Jenner, then I don't know what to tell you. Then number they will get next month for the show will be a monster. Is what Jenner has done courageous? Sure it is at some level. Deserving of the Ashe award? I'd say there are others more deserving. Folks, this isn't about driving some social agenda. It's about driving an audience.

Fred: what surprises the hell out of me is that Prime/Aegon posts all this, incessantly, even while knowing that a poster knows who he is.

Read the comments here about whether people were surprised or not.

Esther Jenner tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that shes hardly surprised by his choice, since shes always known he was special.

Esther, 88, first told Radar about the “long conversation with Bruce, 65, about his upcoming changes. And in a new interview with The Associated Press, she revealed more secrets from that heartfelt exchange. According to Esther, the former Olympian said, “We need to have a long, serious talk.

And the King of the North has spoken. The King of the 7 Kingdoms and the King of the North cannot be denied. Sorry Natural.

Of course it's ratings driven....doesn't make it any more right. In fact it makes it much worse/shallow/narcissistic.

Jenner only spent $70,000 to fix his/her face. If I had $70,000 to spend on fixing my face, I could look like George Clooney and instantly be more courageous around the ladies. Well, unless I ended up dead like Joan Rivers...

if this thread has taught us one thing, it is that dick suckers are gonna stand up for each other, no matter how flaccid their argument may be.

To be fair, looking like an alive Joan Rivers is about as bad as a dead one
