SJSU responds to volleyball player mass exodus after trans athlete scandal rocked program

This all a made up issue. People who care are racist islamaphobic misogynistic bigots. Meanwhile a division 1 ivy league school was out here nominating biological men as females athletes of the year, and we're all supposed to just pretend it's normal.

What do you think your family says about you when you're not around? Do you think they view you in a positive or negative light?

People only make these types of posts when the person they're directed at touch a nerve and there's no other rebuttal.
I have a great relationship with my family bc they know they've always been my top priority and they know I'd do anything for them. They know whatever they need they can count on me, no matter how big or small. I talk to all of them on a daily basis in some shape or form.
Bet you can't say the same to any of this. Take care.

I love these threads. Always nice to see the folks who are the most racist calmly explain that I'd better get on board with trans bigotry, and that, "You just don't get it"!! It's always the most racist, sexist, anti-Muslim... folks who claim to so clearly see that trans citizens have less value to society, and are underserving of the same rights and protections. Nice to see that the usual folks who are most willing to discriminate against one small, marginalized group of citizens can never point out just how they have been impacted, but, you know, they are different. I like to notice that the same people who are the most agitated are only concerned with male to female trans citizens. I also like to notice that the people who claim that it's simply common sense abut bathrooms and a sport like women's volleyball that they care so deeply about, are unwilling to state that it ends with bathrooms and women's volleyball. I feel sad when I see a poster here who is fairly well known and liked get likes and what nots, but a group of you are very eager to marginalize and discriminate against that same poster because, well, you know, different... Tough break. like you, but you gotta go.
you are emotionally charged and assumptive to an extreme.

No one is denying anyone any rights. The guy disguised as a woman has every right to try out for the men’s volleyball team if he school participates in that sport.

Precisely! ^^ Why is it even remotely controversial to play with the boys if you are a boy and the girls if you are girl...physically speaking. That some on the left are so committed to letting the boys play with the girls is mind boggling.
I think the public is 70-30 against it, but 70-30 for basic trans rights.

It's a losing position the left took and they'd be wise to distance themselves from it politically. They're still afraid to. And so republicans can keep smearing them for it.

Serious question. What exactly are "basic trans rights"? What basic rights have been denied to people who are transgender?

Rights not to be discriminated against in the workplace, healthcare, other common services everybody uses. I'm not saying they have been denied. Just stating that it seems a large majority of people don't want to actually discriminate against trans people but for certain situations where biological sex is pertinent.

They’ve learned nothing at all from last month’s debacle. They will continue insulting anyone who thinks different from them. They will continue applying the “slippery slope” argument to every issue. And based on what they believe lies at the bottom of that slope they will continue attaching labels like ‘racist’ and ‘bigot’ to reasonable people expressing reasonable points of view.

It’s a great way to piss people off and ensure that they will continue to spend the second Tuesday of November wondering what the hell just happened.

Not to my knowledge either and there are legal protections in place for such things.

Not to my knowledge either and there are legal protections in place for such things. So what's the call for "trans rights" really about?
So it looked like to me that a few things happened: A) gay marriage and gay rights issues disappeared as public acceptance grew, and so all the activist sorts had to find something new. They landed on trans people. Most of the talk hasn't been about actual legal issues -- because there aren't many. You had bathrooms, sports and then eventually healthcare services offered. Obviously bathrooms and sports isn't that weighty -- but they didn't have much else.

Otherwise most of the energy was spent policing language, decrying any sort of conceivable discrimination, pushing for acceptance, etc.

B) Gender and "trans" (not really in the way it traditionally had been realized by people) became something that youth started experimenting with. I think a lot of it bubbled up on social media and developed a bit of a life of its own. The activist sorts had a symbiotic relationship with them.

They needed a "Sister Souljah" moment like Clinton had. Think it was Bill Maher who pointed this out, and I agree. Distance themselves a bit from the activist wing of the party, but they won't do it. That was probably their fundamental problem, letting those people control the narrative. Obama and other dem presidents in the past didn't have this problem they weren't beholden to their special interest groups.

Your first point is spot on and an entirely new topic which is quite interesting when you delve into it. Professional activists need a cause and a victim. Always. Otherwise the money stops coming in.

I hope you understand that both sides created a cause and a victim.

Transgender didn't just appear after gay marriage became legal, but suddenly laws were proposed or created regulating bathrooms and healthcare decisions.

Conservatives needed a new social issue and liberals reacted to discrimination.

The gay marriage thing has not disappeared. . Hundreds of methodist church's disaffiliated this year over that issue. My church had a vote in 23. It was 100 percent to leave the methodist church over that issue. You can pretend to be a cat and marry a frog, no one at my church cares. Go do it in your own church. Be gay or whatever. Not what I follow. No one at my church does. Any in the United States of America I can still do that. Sucks that you democrats can't make me.

Churches have always been able to do what they want. Even if retarded.

How is it trans bigotry to not want former men playing on a women’s team? I support trans people’s right to live their life as they see fit. They are human and deserving of compassion and fair treatment as any other person. But that shouldn’t mean they should be free to impose their genetic advantages on female athletes.

Conflating fairness in sport with bigotry is just stupid…and you are not stupid.

They do that to try and intimidate and get the argument ended.

You don’t see too many girls trying to play sports with the guys, so…
On the flip side, anyone see the dude trying to play on the Epson tour (a lesser tour of the LPGA) say he doesn't actually have a physical advantage because the women out drive him anyways? I lol'd.

People really need to look at both side of the issue. The current coach was put in a really tough spot because Fleming was brought in by the previous coach. That coach IMHO really mismanaged the situation with the team, and then left before the mess started.
Fleming is an OK player on an average team. She met every NCAA requirement to compete. Agree or disagree, she did her part.
Her teammate were put in a horrible position they never asked for. They had no idea she is trans. Slusser roomed with her on road trips and had no idea.
The protest was based solely on principle. The vast majority of people do not want people who were born male competing on women's teams. Fleming could hit the ball. Her back row attack is not bad at all, but she doesn't hit any harder than many other girls playing on good teams. The fairness and safety aspect was completely over blown. She wasn't even the best player on their team. One comment was made that she helped SJSU with their first win over a B1G team. They did beat Iowa 3-1. Iowa however won a total of 4 matches total in the Big 10, when combined with last years record, it's still 4.

I hope the NCAA rethinks it's rules on this, and I think they will. I look for changes this off season and don't expect there will be any Transgender athletes moving forward. As a parent of a transgender adult, I am all for trans rights. This is one area that actually does much more harm than good.
