SJSU responds to volleyball player mass exodus after trans athlete scandal rocked program

I dismiss most things that have absolutely no impact on my daily life, and things that are mass hysteria driven to demonize and marginalize a very small section of the citizenry in order to keep the masses from paying attention to the things that matter.
How about the opposite? Over promotion and false demonization and marginalization of a probably insignificantly small section in order to keep the masses from paying attention to things that matter?

City High has a female to male athlete, and that citizen has been widely accepted by some of the most MAGA City High moms I know.
Let us know when she starts breaking guys faces spiking the ball at them, breaking long standing male records or replacing them on the podium.

The issue isn’t how good Fleming was. The issue is that a biological male who identifies as female took a scholarship and a roster spot that were intended for an actual female. And actual females were forced against their wishes to share a locker room and hotel rooms with a biological male. And an assistant coach who filed a complaint about this was suspended indefinitely and will most likely lose her job.

Fleming’s stats aren’t really the problem here.
As I said in my first comments, it is based on principle. I also said it was mismanaged by the school and certainly by the previous coach that recruited her.
How traumatized were her teammates that were forced to share a locker room and room with her on road trips when they had no idea she was trans until the second season they played together and only found out from hearing it from other students while walking down the hall? Obviously, Fleming isn't a biologically intact male walking around with a swinging dick here.
Coaches all have a code of conduct to follow, this assistant failed to follow.

Strictly speaking on the sports side of this issue --- what I don't understand is the folks on here that say they don't care, it isn't an issue, it impacts no one, ect... claim to be the biggest advocate for the right's of all, yet don't care about the opinions of those it directly impacts. I have zero clue what the %'s are; but clearly there is a large contingent of girls/women that are impacted by this that do care. Why are their opinions disregarded? Is it simply because they do not fall in line with your thinking? Or are high school and college age women athlete's minds not developed enough to form a valid opinion? It is weird how those who claim to be fighting for equal rights to all can be so dismissive of those women that this impacts.

I do not have a good solution as obviously there isn't enough Trans to start their own teams; but dismissing the girls/women's concerns to appease a few is not the answer, and I tend to think that those it impacts should have a say.

They say that because they know they are wrong but can’t stand the idea of being against their side.

They are on the wrong side of history with this and it takes a real dipshit to not see that.

It’s a great issue for republicans. They should let the left keep pushing this because it costs them votes all the time and always will.

I can't stand Trump and the Republicans but I agree on this.

The left is usually the first to advocate for women/girls, but when college women were made to change in a locker room as a person with a penis and some of them chose to change in a storage closet out of discomfort, they got mad at the women and called them transphobic.

Women are being made to accept it or else. Nothing breaks the human spirit more than forcing a person to accept and say things that are not true.

None of which happened here either. The actual results do more to support the NCAA's policy than anything.
So you have a link showing biological Men competing in female sports aren't succeeding at a high rate and/or endangering the women competitors?

You are more that welcome to watch every SJSU game available for the last two years if you would like as they are the only team with a trans female that I know of and certainly never had a high level of success and no one was endangered any more that against any other team without a trans female player.

Lucas, the majority of people don’t think it is fair to have trans playing women’s sports. You say it doesn’t affect you but you are wrong. Right or wrong, stupid shit like this helped the current president elect win the last election. Such a small portion of the population indeed. Bad hill to die on. I am all for people living their lives, but this gets ridiculous.
For the record, there are approximately 12 (twelve) trans-athletes playing school sports in America today. The youngest is 11.

Tell me what Trump and the Republican controlled House has done to solve this crisis? Or any Republican politician?

What are the Democratic politicians doing that is so terrible to you, besides pointing out that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on both sex and gender?

I am not saying it is accurate, but I hear over and over again how it affects so few people. When the left carries this agenda loudly like it does, it just feeds the opposition and the fact that the majority of Americans don’t think it is fair. I don’t believe trans should play women’s sports, like the majority. Lia Thomas is a better example.

I hear more than 70% of Americans also think abortion should be legal in at least some circumstances, yet more than 12 women have already died because the Republican politicians in their states banned the procedure.

Tell me, do you have any concern about the "fairness" of these women being forced to die because physicians have been banned from saving their life at the point of imprisonment? Have you considered the impact their deaths have had on their husband's, children, and families? Or do you just worry about the few girls having to play against a trans maybe once in their entire sports careers.

I am all for women’s reproductive rights, dude. I am also for letting trans people live their lives the way they want with the exception of women’s sports. This trans stuff isn’t a political issue for me. I really don’t care that much. Just the sports aspect I have an opinion on. Just pointing out how it hurts the left politically and gives fuel to magas.

Well - Trump has zero control right now. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t vote for him; but your hatred, blame and deflection is laughable. What would you like him to do as the President in waiting?

2 - I am a little confused about your point but guaranteed there are more than 12. If that is accurate, you think 1000s of women should suffer because of 12? Not saying I agree with their stance; but I think it should be listened to since they are the ones being impacted.

3 - related to the above, why are so many girls/women speaking out about it if it isn’t a big deal? And do their opinions not matter? Christ - a lot of them are in CA and likely democrats. I personally do not think this sports argument should be a political issue; but hey, you keep fighting the good fight

To conflict with your 12 #. I asked google, and this was the first response. Since you included an 11 year old, I assume you were including high school. Your # seems slightly off
  • High school
A 2021 report by the Human Rights Campaign estimated that 35,000 high school students are transgender athletes, which would be about 0.44% of all high school athletes. A 2017 survey by the Human Rights Campaign suggested that fewer than 15% of transgender boys and girls play sports.

  • College
Baeth estimates that fewer than 40 of the NCAA's more than 500,000 athletes are transgender. In 2022, Inside Higher Ed reported that only 32 transgender athletes openly competed in college sports.

Statistically possible is the not the same as an estimated.

There is no data available that provides an exact number of transgender students in high school, let alone transgender student-athletes. There are approximately 15 million high school students in the United States, and approximately 8 million of them participate in high school sports. A CDC study published in 2019 estimated that 1.8 percent of high school students are transgender, meaning there are roughly 270,000 transgender students in U.S. high schools. But a report by the Human Rights Campaign found that only 14% of transgender boys and 12% of transgender girls play sports. Given all of those numbers, it's statistically possible that there are some 35,000 transgender student-athletes in high school, which would mean 0.44% of high school athletes are transgender.

Well, true, and it was the first article on google so I’m not saying it is an accurate #, but I am fairly confident in saying “statistically possible of being 35k” is slightly more than “there are approximately 12 (twelve) trans-athletes playing school sports in America today. The youngest is 11.” as the above poster so confidently wrote

The thing is the study estimates the number of transgender students in high school and then the number that might be participating in sports. There is a difference from being transgender and participating in sports as their chosen gender. There are probably many high school students that are transgender that aren't even out of the closet, most of them probably participate in sports with their birth gender peers. The number that is important in this discussion is not the number of transgender athletes, it's the number that are participating as the gender to which they are transitioning and in the case of female to male transgenders how many are participating in female sports while taking hormones to transition to male. Guesstimates like this study don't give us any idea about how many individuals may have a completive advantage due to transitioning.

The following is a story I remember seeing on Oprah years ago. This woman is transgender, but she competed as a boy in high school. I think the study mentioned in your post would include this person as a transgender high school athlete even though she played HS sports with her birth gender peers.

I understand that and your point. I am just saying there are obviously significantly more than 12 trans athletes above the age of 11 in sports today.
