Listen to floradio, Willie's take on the v tech transfer situation back when tom came to Iowa is absolutely pathetic. idk how Willie says some of the things he does and idk how anyone could defend v tech in that situation.

it happened, its done, its over. Lets not beat a dead horse.
I agree it's the past and what happened happened but to hear somebody who knows wrestling give his take on it and have such a pathetic view on the situation and the situation of releasing wrestlers in general is shameful. High class wrestlers commit to coaches who give them the best opportunity to succeed in their wrestling careers. In any situation if that coach leaves the kids should get the opportunity to follow the coach that they commited too.

I am all for more shows talking about wrestling but I have a hard time not shutting it off when I give it a chance on the Flo App through Roku. They really don't cover anything most knowledgeable posters who visit this board everyday already know. But it takes them forever to get around to anything and they lose my attention.

As for the VT thing, Jaybor wrote a pretty long post on here after he graduated covering everything we need to know. I have a hard time believing Tom, the kids and all of the parents are liars.

very well written considering he could have taken another approach. I wish someone could find that.

I don't disagree. It's one persons opinion and he's entitled to it. Can't love freedom of speech until someone says something you don't like.

Ummm that's not what freedom of speech means. Willie can say whatever he wants and we are allowed to call him an idiot for it.

Freedom of speech applies to the government not private individuals or entities.

I would love to read JayBo's blog, I don't remember ever seeing it. Does anyone have a link or the text?

Click baiting and shock jocking is what Flo does best... I wish it'd quit working on most of you.
If smalls was a real man he should bring up his version of VT to Tom, Jay or Metcalf next time he sees them and record that conversation for FLO. I don't get whats so hard to believe when its 16 folks word versus 1 AD's word.

Guessing how many times you've mentioned a specific dead AD here over the past few months might mean something.

Guessing we may not be getting the message you have been trying to impart. Or maybe we don't care. Or see the relevance.

Or maybe you have some strange morbid fascination with death..........guess it's a Pirate thing.

Now that, I would tune in for! Something tells me I have a better chance in the sack with Jessica Alba than ever hearing that though.

That wouldn't be click bait or shock jocking though... It'd be true journalism, something Flo clearly isn't interested in.

The only way to shut Flo up is to not buy their product. You pay them you validate them. No hawkeye fans subscribing to or listening to them they lose the abiliy to spout their bias.

So what was his take?
Something along the lines of (speaking as if he was in the position of the AD)..."Oh you come and get a year paid for and then leave gutting my program of a potential championship team... well then you can sit a year, boo freakin' hoo."

Disclaimer: Don't currently subscribe to Flo, although I did many years ago to view content for another sport.

Was there any comment/comparison to other coaches who have had similar circumstances and what occurred in those cases?

The reality is that it is very rare that schools won't release an athlete in a non-revenue sport, especially out of conference. I recall one B10 swimmer last decade who wasn't released and lost a year.

Be careful guys, with topics like this we are sure to get a stern HR tinfoil-hat-scolding on the next FRL..
What does "FRL" stand for? "Flo Restling Live?"

I'm kidding, of course, but I'm also curious and really don't know what it stands for. . . .

I know this is a dumb question but I have been racking my brain to figure out what FIFY means. Sorry

whoa - fellas, let me clarify: if there was an agreement (or documents etc) that agreed to releases prior to their signing - then i get that. that should be honored.

i'm saying if 3 guys commit to UCLA basketball, then redshirt, and then the coach wants to leave to go to Kentucky - i'm not giving them a release.

maybe you still think that answer is crap. but that's what i'm saying. and i didn't have 'a version'.

I guess i did a bad job differentiating between hypothetical and reality/history.

i'll speak on it Thursday.

I agree with a lot of things you say usually but that is a terrible view. these kids go to the schools they choose for the coaches and where they believe they will succeed . If the staff leaves they should be allowed to transfer and follow the coaches they commited too. For an example all of these studs are just beginning to go to Arizona state and that's because zeke is there so these kids are commiting to him and his staff, these kids wouldn't choose that school without him. So how would it be fair lets say if he left and then these kids were stuck with a staff that they didn't commit too. You shouldn't make a kid sit a year for sticking with the people who got him to go to the school in the first place.

Well..... OK then.......I'm sure Brands will be releasing an apology to all concerned right quickly. He must have misplaced that document and is terribly embarrased by his mistake and forgetfulness.

Unless of course everything was done verbally and with a handshake as many honorable people still do these days.
Yes, I know that won't stand up in a court of law or against a mad AD. (God rest his soul).

...............Nice try with the misdirection on UCLA and Kentucky BBall. Doesn't work though. More honorable people at those institutions.

As much as I hate to get involved in this conversation, I have to ask. What was the understanding between Brands and the AD when he took the job? I remember a story where Tom told his wife to get a house she wanted to retire in or live for 30 years, because they were there for the long haul. If that is true, which if I remember correctly, it was Tom who said that, then maybe the AD felt he was betrayed and he just acted childishly (if that is even a word) to get payback. I am not saying what he did was correct, I am just saying that no one ever discusses what was said or agreed between Tom and the AD.
Did the AD tell Tom that he would not let his guys transfer if he left or was that never discussed?

uhhh - i'm saying if there was any agreement it should be honored. not sure how you can spin that, kwood
